Assassination Attempt on Trump

The Trump-Hitler comparisons are lame, like really lame. Sealing off the border is not rounding up and exterminating Jews.

Trump is a conspiracy theorist who tried to overturn an election which led us down a very dark path. It wasn't just J6 either. That is what most people don't realize.

He is more in the veil of Putin, Victor Orban or Erdgodan, except not nearly as smart. He mostly just wants to be loved, be a celebrity and kick out illegals. He has no grasp of policy, foreign affairs or economics really.

Is it just me, or is it hilarious that the right wing is obsessed with wanting to be Hungary? That is pretty freakin lame. All of Europe hates him.

Trump can be compared to Berlusconi maybe. Using Hitler just makes people ignore you because it’s dumb
That’s a really dumb comparison. What was the equivalent of January 6th for Berlusconi?

Being morally corrupt is not Trump’s only flaw.

Thank god he's old. Wait, Trump Jr could turn him into Kim Jong-il.

What was the equivalent of murdering 6M Jewish men, women and children for Trump? Which along with WW2 is the primary thing Hitler is known for. Not that your question isn’t valid but it’s also very disingenuous when YOU support comparing Trump to Hitler.

Nailed it.

JD Vance is scary. Opportunistic populist.

So much for bringing people together.

No comparison is perfect (some are more ridiculous than others). Moral corruption was not Berlusconi’s only flaw. You didn’t read far enough down the wiki article

Well…. I quote….

“He might be America’s Hitler”

-JD Vance

The fact that he had that inclination and still chose to kiss his ring is very concerning.

He was corrupt, he controlled media… he was not Trump.

Comparing Trump to that guy minimizes the danger that Trump poses. You might as well compare him to Thatcher.

I do find it ironic that you choose someone from a country that has probably least evolved away from Fascism over the last 80 years.

“Might”. I’ll assume the past 8 years much to his relief has convinced Vance he wasn’t. I haven’t seen that qualifier used by any Dems. If I missed it please let me know

What in the past 8 years has made us think he was LESS like Hitler than we suspected in 2016? That statement is insane.

JD Vance has said a lot of things to appeal to one group of people in one context and then said the opposite things to appeal to a different group of people in another context. No idea what he actually believes

There’s some truth to that. Suppose it’s not much different than Kamala calling Biden racist before becoming his running mate. Vance has flip flopped on like 50% of his political philosophy though. Seems a little more extreme with him

We were visited yesterday by a relative of my wife, who lives in Southern California. When the subject of Trump’s shooting came up, she started sharing “inside information “ from a couple of close friends who worked in the government. After a few minutes I realized she was spinning a conspiracy story that basically said Trump wasn’t actually shot and it was a staged event.

So, there’s plenty of left wing conspiracists out there, not just right wing. I heard someone call this staged assassination conspiracy theory blueannon.

Publicly declaring Trump is Hitler, which is the popular declaration of Hollywood elite in 2024 is very close to asking for someone to kill Trump. It’s been popular over the years for people to wishfully dream that someone would‘ve taken out Hitler a decade earlier and saved us all from his horrible, murderous regime.

The desperation & extreme emotion in the statements of actors, actresses & pop culture figures declaring it “will be the end of democracy “etc. if Trump wins in November, can be construed by an immature mind as a call for someone to “please save us”!

I think the 20 year old who came within a few inches of killing Trump thought he would be the hero of popular culture by doing just that.

I’m sure he will be asked that question. I’m also sure he will have a competent and complete answer. Vance is a very smart guy.

Most signs have not yet corroborated that idea.

I’ve known quite a few like him… I’m not impressed.
Anyone who can beat Tim Ryan in Ohio by 6 points is impressive. At least impressive to the people in his home state. Ryan is a solid guy. Assume they know him better than you.

Granted….he’s no Kamala 😂

Is this really the Teamster Pres speaking at the Pub convention?

Ryan is a solid guy. I also haven’t been particularly impressed with the people of Ohio in the past 20 or so years lol. Honestly both him and Kamala are not fit for office.

Don’t really know much about Vance other than the one Senate election in Ohio and that he’s evidently a smart guy and good speaker. Guess we will see as he’s about to be put in the spotlight.

I would rather have a brain dead Biden than Kamala in the big chair.

Are there any unifying figures left in politics in 2024? Would love to find a few.

A lot of L Graham clones in the Republican party. Even Nikki, the one semi unifier in the Republican party, she recently doubled back(in double time) on her followers, again. I think Nikki & Lindsey share the same affinity for the spotlight of power. Of course, I also think Nikki also wants to do right for the peop;e. I doubt that matters much to Lindsey.

every thing you place on Trump, you can find an opposite and equal action by Biden and the Democrats
You see it that way. Others don't necessarily agree.

I was super disappointed in his pick of Vance BTW. Was hoping for a more unifying figure.

If we get back to policy, I disagree vehemently with their isolationism.

I vehemently disagree with comments that Vance has made in support of executive policy positions, such as advocating for the president to use Andrew Jackson’s tactic toward justice:

“The chief justice has made his ruling, now let him enforce it”

That is the sort of authoritarian attitude that should be very scary to people. For people in Tulsa, that was the attitude that led directly to the Trail of Tears.

who was the last President that paid any attention to the platform

“People who live in glass houses should not cast stones”

Trump: “Nothing you can do folks. All though the 2nd Amendment people maybe there is, I don’t know…”

(Bullet flies passed head)

Trump: OH WAIT, NOT LIKE THAT!!!

Karl: "Because you heard those chants — that was terrible. I mean — "

Trump: "He could have — well, the people were very angry."

Karl: "They were saying 'hang Mike Pence.'"

Trump: "Because it's common sense, Jon. It's common sense that you're supposed to protect. How can you — if you know a vote is fraudulent, right? — how can you pass on a fraudulent vote to Congress? How can you do that? And I'm telling you: 50/50, it's right down the middle for the top constitutional scholars when I speak to them. Anybody I spoke to — almost all of them at least pretty much agree, and some very much agree with me — because he's passing on a vote that he knows is fraudulent. How can you pass a vote that you know is fraudulent?

Trump: "LIBERATE MICHIGAN!; LIBERATE MINNESOTA!; LIBERATE VIRGINIA, and save your great 2nd Amendment. It is under siege!"

Trump:
"When you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon, you just seen them thrown in, rough. I said, 'Please don't be too nice,'" he said.

"When you guys put somebody in the car and you're protecting their head you know, the way you put their hand over [their head]," Trump continued, mimicking the motion. "Like, 'Don't hit their head and they've just killed somebody, don't hit their head.' I said, 'You can take the hand away, OK?'

During a rally for Montana Republicansahead of the midterms, Trump praised Rep. Greg Gianforte, who allegedly body slammed a reporter back when he was initially running for his congressional seat in 2017.

Trump: "Any guy that can do a body slam, he is my type!" Trump said on Thursday to cheers.

Trump: "If you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously, OK? Just knock the hell ... I promise you I will pay for the legal fees. I promise, I promise," the future president said on Feb. 1, 2016.

Two Boston brothers invoked Trump when they were arrestedfor urinating on a homeless man and beating him with a metal pipe. While in custody, one of the brothers told the police, “Trump was right. All of these illegals need to be deported.” The 58-year-old Mexican American they assaulted was a permanent US resident.

In response to the news that the Boston assault was inspired by his rhetoric, Trumpdid not denounce the violence, instead calling his supporters “passionate.” “I think that would be a shame. I will say, the people that are following me are very passionate. They love this country. They want this country to be great again. But they are very passionate. I will say that,” he told reporters the next day.

Trump indirectly took aim at Black Lives Matter protesters, calling Sen. Bernie Sanders “weak” after Sanders allowed protesters to seize the microphone at a campaign rally. “I thought that was disgusting. That showed such weakness — the way he was taken away by two young women. … They just took the whole place over.”
Trump added, “That will never happen with me. I don’t know if I’ll do the fighting myself or if other people will. But that was a disgrace. … I felt badly for him, but it showed that he’s weak.”

——————————-

At a Las Vegas rally later that month, he said security guards were too gentle with a protester. "He's walking out with big high-fives, smiling, laughing," Trump said. "I'd like to punch him in the face, I'll tell you."

A similar situation unfolded at a rally that month in Warren, Michigan.

"Get him out," he said of a protester. "Try not to hurt him. If you do, I'll defend you in court. Don't worry about it."

On March 9, 2016, as a protester was being escorted out of a rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina, he was sucker-punched by another attendee.

That’s only a small handful of the things I could find in a few minutes…. But it’s Biden and the Dems who are to blame for “violent rhetoric”

I left out the couple of times he’s employed the phrase “Enemy of the People”. I’m sure Mark Zuckerberg loved being labeled that.

Both sides are clearly “equal” /s

For Tulsans, the elevator rumor mill remarks that led to the Tulsa race riots were in semblance to some of the following comments.

You cannot make repeated remarks like this as a public figure in a position that is supposed to be the leader of the free world, and not take at least a very small part of the responsibility for some nut job shooting at you. You cannot say the most vile things that pop into your head repeatedly, and expect that there might not be consequences for your remarks, that some nut job may push beyond just screaming obscenities at you. That's what all the bullies like you;(Trump) do in situations you have seen and participated in throughout your life. Why would you expect a nut job to react with any more sense than a bully that knocks your teeth out. The nut job will make it a little more serious though. That's what mentally not well adjusted people will do.

Take responsibility for your words and what they can do on the bully pulpit.(not meant to be a play on words) That's what has been lost since 2016.

But I don't really know.
