TU Soccer 2023

Starting a new thread about the upcoming Fall season. Schedule is on the web site as well as the roster. TU has added some interesting pieces to the mix for this season, a lot of international flair (German and Spanish). Biggest ? will be can Richnow and Bottenburg replace Fazio in the middle and who will be the 6 replacing Sach? I think the 6 role might come down to Luke Jeffus or Sergio Baena although I think Baena is better suited to the attacking MF roles in the favored 4-3-3 TU plays. I know last year Dalby played in that role a little but his game lacks some of the speed, vision, and physicality Sach brought to it.

TU will obviously be missing Mitchell Cashion and his ability to be a dynamic player from a fullback spot. I do think TU will be able to score plenty of goals this season. MHS is back along with Taka Wyett.

Season starts vs UMKC on August 11th in an exhibition match. Will be a good test for TU and a chance to get some players looks. 1st regular game is August 24th vs Louisville. Creighton comes in for a midweek match on Sept. 19th. We also play UNLV, Drake, & Missouri State in non-conference games.

TU will have its hands full in the AAC as I expect the conference to be even better than it was last season.

New AAC commissioner

Thoughts on this guy? I know the idea with Aresco is that he came from the broadcasting world and so would drive better deals but I was overall not impressed by him. This guy seems to be saying the right things. His focus seems to be mostly on talent, with maybe some distribution at Endeavor?

🏈 News/Notes New AAC Commissioner Tim Pernetti says CFP expansion is encouraging

New American Athletic Conference Commissioner Tim Pernetti said Thursday that College Football Playoff expansion is good for the sport and he believes there is room for more growth.

Pernetti, the former Rutgers athletic director and IMG executive, officially takes over for the retiring Mike Aresco in June.

In his first news conferences — both in-person and on a video conference — since being hired last week, the 53-year-old Pernetti said he wants the conference to take “big swings” and is not interested in chasing the status of certain labels that are now more nebulous than ever in college sports.

College Football Was Ruined for $600

EA Sports announces they will pay $600 and a copy of the game to players who elect to appear in the re-boot of the College Football video game.

The train wreck of a sport we try to enjoy today was brought down by Ed OBannon, a basketball player and his lawyers, so kids could get $600.

Pretty much blows out of the water any plausible argument the schools have that Johnny QB is worth $2 mil if the number one most profitable NIL product is only offering $600 across the board to players.

The NCAA may go to war. If they have the cash and belly.

FIFTH ANNUAL BRACKET CHALLENGE

ITS THAT TIME OF YEAR!!

The Fifth Annual Bracket Challenge (AKA Win Loca's Money) is upon us. Just like last year there is now a prize involved with this Bracket Challenge. Since there is something of worth available to the winner only, there are some rules with this. These rules are non-negotiable. To be eligible for the prize you must satisfy all of the requirements. I know that I can't make it too secure but I do what I can.

So now what is the Prize? The Prize is worth $10 dollars. This can be done in an electronic payment or a gift card. This is to make it friendly and something to shoot for. I also didn’t take people to raise so it’s a low amount. Lol.

Rules: (These are strictly adhered to)

1. You are only allowed one bracket entry.
2. Your bracket name must be your handle on ITS. IF I cannot find the (@name) then your bracket is ineligible.
3. I will lock entries at 10 am on the first day of the round of 64.
4. The delivery of the prize will be up to the winner. They will have a choice of the following:
a. Sent via VENMO or Zelle only. I don’t Cash App, Apple Pay, or any others.
b. Gift card of your choice but I must be able to do an electronic Gift Card to be sent to
your email address.
c. I will leave this option open if someone has a good idea.
