Initial NET rankings for 2022-2023 season

So there are no games today that I will be tracking. Today is the initial installment of the NET rankings. I knew we would be over 200 and I was correct.

Before anyone asks. Oral Roberts played 4 teams that are NAIA, D2 or 3. That is why their record is what it is.

The Search Could Have Been Better

One word. Disaster.

When coaching candidates are coming up that keep on missing the mark that’s very concerning. Troubling.

The main requisite for a TU coach is having established roots or connections to Texas. It’s the lifeblood of the program.

Aside from GJ Kinne, no candidate has deep roots to Texas. Marion has skipped from job to job. Wells has spent the last decade primarily in Utah. Odom’s focus has been in MO, KS, and Arkansas.

We have heard nothing from or about Gillespie in quite some time. The old ball coach may have delayed any communique till after the conference championship, or he may have just taken a pass on the job.

The results at Arkansas this year don’t lend any great confidence in hiring Odom. None. Zilch. Marion? He’s never really held on to a job very long at all. He’s a professional “job hopper”. Look at his resume’.

College football playoff

So TCU made the playoffs in spite of a close loss. Had they gotten blown out, would they still have made it?

And Ohio State’s last game was a blowout loss, but they back in not having to play a championship game. USC gets penalized playing in a championship game.

The system doesn’t seem equitable. You can almost consider it a penalty to play in a conference championship.

Game thoughts ORU

I still like the coaches, but I don’t understand what we are doing. We aren’t athletic, don’t play aggressive defense to make up for that, and have them at least 16 extra shots with turnovers and bad rebounding.

Four guard offense doesn’t work. I don’t understand how we use Dalger.

I feel like we are forcing things and it’s just not working.

TCU and KSU

In the 70’s there was a parody of the Willie Nelson song retitled “Momma’s don’t let your babies grow up to wear purple” It was about how bad TCU, KSU and Northwestern were and they all wore purple. Looking at the game, fans in the stadium etc… for the Bib XII championship game it makes me realize how things can change with the right coach and administration support.

Let’s hope TU will make the best hire and provide them with the tools for success.
