Home vs Cincinnati 10/17 11 am

It's going to be an interesting game. Watching the Cincy highlights, they're a well coached team that has a good gameplan every time they play. That being said, the teams they have played haven't been good matchups with them. USF threw something like 4-5 picks most of which were bad throws into multiple DB coverage. Army was in the game into the 4th quarter, but they got barely any pressure on the QB due to their size, and for the same reason Army's offensive tackles had a lot of trouble in the pass game when Army got down. They were just getting shoved around.

Against USF ( a more traditional offense than Army obviously) they brought a lot of pressure with their LB's, Safeties + their 4 man DL. That could mean trouble if we're not ready for it. Their offense is creative and it operates out of a plethora of pretty unique sets. They're susceptible to fumbles out of their option game (speed + read) and bad decisions by the QB though. I see it as a battle in who can run the ball well, win the turnover battle, and defend the pass. The USF game kinda reminded me of what might have happened to us after the 1st Quarter against UCF if we hadn't found our rhythm on offense / if our defense wasn't able to hold up like it did. I would say, Cincy is a more creative version of UCF, a bit more turnover prone, with a better pass rush.

Agree with above, but our guys get another 2 weeks of practice which, IMO, bodes ill for Cincy. The passing game was much improved vs UCF & will be that much better for Cinn. & future opponents. And, of course, no one has a better D than us in the AACK! I'm down for 2 seats in the South Zone.

Luckily for us, we have less gametape, and since the offense struggled so much against OSU, we really haven't shown a lot of playbook this season outside of 3 quarters against UCF and 1 drive against OSU.

I'll be interested how Cincy attacks our defense though. I've seen them run speed option, read option, wheel routes, 4+5 wides, WR screens, bunch formations, fades, etc... and that's just the plays that they had success with, much less the plays they might dream up in the next two weeks or the ones that they didn't have success with that they could try again. It will be interesting to see what they try against the 3-3-5.

Is there any updates on the injury to Wick? I haven't seen anything.
It was an ankle injury from the looks of it. Might be one of those dreaded high ankle sprains. We've got plenty of depth on DL as of right now.

I’m not quite as confident in our DL depth. I was excited to see Rogers & Grant out there against UCF, but asking those two freshmen to play extended minutes might be putting a bit too much on their plate.

surely, you jest. You haven’t noticed all the 11s floating around the program?
I have. But last year there were thousands of tweets from OU fans bitching about their 11:00am TV time slots for ABC and Fox every week. Some of their fans griped about needing to get out of their "crappy" conference so they weren't playing in the AM so many times. Others just bitched because it didn't give them enough time to lube up before the game. It was somewhat comical. TU would gladly take any national TV spot at any time of the day. Hell the last 2 games being on ESPN and ESPN2 with what I consider "A" group announcing teams has been a huge boon for TU. Jerry O tweeted that anyone who still couldn't see the value to the institution as a whole when your team goes on national TV and beats the #11 team in the country just doesn't get it.

Blackledge and McDonough were very complimentary of our defense in game 1. Gilmore couldn't gush enough about our DBs and Collins. And he even mentioned the OL and physicality, the physical nature of our RBs, and how good Smith was when he finally found a rhythm with the WRs.

My Mother is one of 8 kids and she had 3 of her own - another symbolic 11 will miracles never end!!!

That's because spring & fall camp were almost non-existent. I'm certain we'll be installing a bunch of new plays over the next 2 weeks that Cincy hasn't seen and I expect our D to be ready for most of what they have to throw at us.

You need to wait until Monday if not a season ticket holder. There are still quite a few tickets available.
