Collegian

Wow - it has really taken a nosedive.

Is the purpose of the student paper just to bash the university that funds it? The whole thing is kind of a joke… I don’t have extensive knowledge of student news publications at other schools, but they have to be better than what these kids are churning out.

Almost every piece I see is some sort of hit piece on TU with the writer whining about something ridiculous, a “satirical” piece that’s more lame than anything else, or an occasional campus news update… that’s over a week (or more in some cases) old.

Homecoming game - 11/4

We had hoped to make it to homecoming and the game on 11/4. Unfortunately making a 9 hour drive up will not happen at this time. As a result, I have a couple of free tickets for the game on 11/4 versus Charlotte on the west side of the stadium. Please let me know if you can use the tickets to attend - I’d be happy to email you the tickets if someone would like to attend.

A friendly invite from ShockerNet

Hey guys, just wanted to stop in and say "Hi" and invite you all to join us on ShockerNet for a friendly conference pick-em competition this year. It had been a staple of our MVC days with fans from all over the conference joining us and we're starting it up again! There's prizes and plenty of room for fun banter. We'd love to have all of you join us!

It'll be setup under the "23-24 Pick'em" sub-forum!

Thanks and best of luck this season!

🏈 Recruiting 3-star DE/LB impressed with TU after visit

Frisco (TX) Lone Star defensive end Jaxon Lee took an official visit to Tulsa last month and has since visited Nebraska as well. The former Texas Tech commit enjoyed his time on the Golden Hurricane campus.

🏈 Recruiting Jaxon Lee impressed with Tulsa after visit

Lee visited during the OU game. I talked to him in late September. I was told he verbally committed and has been a silent commit for a while, so I was waiting to run the story until after he announced. But then Nebraska offered and brought him in for a visit last weekend, so I thought I better go ahead and run this short story...

A night with Rice fan

Went to Kilkenny’s last night and ate at the bar.

This loud moron sat in the middle. His dad had been a professor at TU and he later went to Rice. Came to town for the game and apparently hasn’t been here for years.

He’s the sort of dood that has to talk all the time. It was annoying at first, but then he wouldn’t leave the bartender alone. At some point he started asking these inane questions like:

“Hey, is Cain’s still a thing?”

“Is Brookside still around?”

“Do they still have Braum’s?”

“Is the BOK tower still there? You know, there used to be a mall with a skating rink next to it.”

I ended up making friends with some people and we started our own version of this game. “Do they still have Quiktrip?” “Is Philbrook around? No, it got torn down for a 7-11. It was weird, man.” “Hey, do they still have Coney Island?” The bartender quietly giggled after awhile.

And my conclusion is Rice fan is still trash.

13 Flags

When I sit in the stadium on Thursday nights, I can’t help but notice the 13 flags of the other AAC teams on the East wall. The problem is there is only room for 12. The Tulane flag stands off to the side out of place.

We need a volunteer to go up to the top of the east stands and toss the SMU flag over the wall to make room for Tulane.

Good riddance, slutty little pony.

📝 Larry Lewis RECAP & Video: Early mistakes lead to blowout loss against Rice

Self-inflicted mistakes started the disaster. And it developed into a mostly lifeless performance for Tulsa. The result was a 42-10 walloping by Rice over Tulsa in a hapless performance Thursday night in front of 18,527 fans at H.A. Chapman Stadium.

Official Rice Prediction Thread

After laying an owl egg in Boca Raton, it's time to get back on track. Feels like KW and Spurrier are holding the offense down a little too much...they are playing tight still.

Is this the game that Braxton gets the start?

We can't go 1-2 vs. Owls. Nope. : 31
Rice Fan: 27

Bonus Kendall: We will break the beer tasting world record. 3K hoped for, exact number will be 2,874.

Official FAU Prediction Thread

Wut….are we becoming a real football team? Cardell is starting to look like what we thought he would. This coaching staff will play the best players….not the upperclassmen. A real next man up vibe.

FAU is 1-3. Blown out by Clemson, lost to Ohio and Illinois. Beat Monmouth; who cares.

You think we have mascot issues? FAU has both Owlsley the Owl and Hoot the Owl. I sure hope to hell they didn’t pay for that originality.

Fighting Schnellenbergers: 24
KDub’s Army: 38

Bonus Kendall: Vantroy Malone is a superstar in the making.
