Tyler Smith

So, in 3 games back, I'm not sure I've seen Tyler miss a block or get beat. Last night he basically neutralized the big DT for the 49ers. Like the dude couldn't get any push on or penetration on runs or pass rushes. There was another play where Tyler ran a pseudo-pull to his left and took the DE and then absolutely stuffed Bosa and opened up a lane for the Cowboys RB who ended up going for 8 or 9 on one of the few plays that worked. Smith has been nothing short of stellar so far this season.

BB Visitor This Weekend aka Smikle commits

Chris informed me that 6-9 C/F Ian Smikle of Suncoast HS in Florida is visiting this weekend. He reminds me of Igbanu with his post moves. He has the nickname of The Big Wiggle for his footwork and inside moves. Not a leaper but a strong, big bodied player who does his damage down low. Put up big numbers this past summer.

There are plenty more stats, but those seemed important to me. It's pretty easy to see that 2022 wasn't a good year in most categories.

TU at FAU Stats

Look at the stats. We throw for 38 more yards and they rushed for 40 more than us. Their punter was better and had one more inside the 20 than we did. The thing that stands out was our extra turnover which they marched down the field for a TD. We were driving and deep in their territory so it was somewhere between a 7, 10 or 14 point turn around.

Remembering recent Haith recruits

Geno Artison
Josh Earley
Curtis Haywood 4 star
KES 4-star
Bradley Alcime
Christian Shumate
Emmanuel Ugboh
Austin Richie
George Christopolus
Isaiah Hill
Peter Hewitt
Simon Falokun
Zeke Moore

The recruiting seemed to be on a downhill slope in the recent years. Seasons partially saved by players like Horne, Jackson, Rachal, and Joiner. Several of this list did better at other schools after they got little or no playing time at TU under Haith. We have been dying a slow death in recruiting for years. Wojcik actually had some really good recruits but never had that 5th starter that the defense needed to guard so our top players (Jerome Jordan) was doubled all the time and Wojcik could never make in-game adjustments.
