Whoa, chill pill, dude, tis the season to be jolly, remember? I saw your criteria for updating your original post, that's fine, I'm not criticizing you, I don't care if you update now, later or never. But your decision on when to update doesn't impact the rest of our ability to comment based on other data. Posts are like kids, you bring them into the world and then have to let them go out on their own to make their own way. I guess for you, this thread is the kid who is waiting tables on and off, living in his van, hoping to make it big as a circus performer, filled with life decisions that you don't approve of.
No, I just don't want to comment on it 7 different times.

Official HC Speculation Thread

OK, so that's patently not true. He was the best HS QB in OK...that's not questioned. Him being the entire offense...not true, especially last year and the year before (this year, after Waite was shot, he certainly was most of it). He's had some great RBs at Union and the OL (before this year) were actually pretty good. Grayson Tempest and Jino Boyd and Lane Wood (TE) were all better than your avg. HS WRs and created mismatches for every defense. Add to that Carrasco and teams were just not equipped to deal with Union's skill players. And it's pretty easy for a QB to throw to wide open receivers.

This season was definitely different. While the RB tandem was excellent, the WR room after Jarek Waite was injured and couldn't play anymore, was definitely limited, and in turn, brought out some of Reisig's limitations. And let's be honest, Reisig forces a lot of throws to receivers that aren't open. The losses in the playoffs the previous 2 seasons revealed this.

This year Union just wasn't very good comparative to Owasso, Jenks, and Bixby. The defense lacked speed and the DL wasn't stout enough to contain the run and it exposed the LBs lack of athleticism/speed. The OL wasn't great and not having the WR who could stretch the field, it allowed the D to play closer to the LOS and limit the underneath stuff. Against the good teams, Union simply wasn't capable of creating explosive offensive plays.
I meant this year the offense was all him.

Not sure what limitations you’re talking about. He was outstanding this season with subpar WRs. I mean look what he did to BA.

Do you read every post? Apparently not.

With that BB resigned from Union and was seeking a job on a college football staff. Point is, TU didn't approach him about leaving Union to be on staff. And I'm not saying Montgomery wouldn't make a good addition to a college football staff if for no other reason than to have an in with the Bixby players who are D1 worthy.

But for guys like Haisten and Peters and other local media suggesting that Montgomery should be considered for the TU HC job, they lose credibility and should lose certain amounts of access for pushing such BS. There are limited instances where such a direct move worked...and I can't think of any time in the last 10 years where it has been successful, and the current landscape with free agency and NIL, I can't imagine that such a move would work very often at all.

Art Briles- didn't he come directly to Houston from being a HS coach? It worked there (later issues notwithstanding). Not sure it would work in the current climate.

I agree with this 100%. Lamb should make it a point to get into those coaches' offices in the next 2-3 weeks in prep for the January signing date but also to start recruiting the top players in the '26 grad classes at those places. And I have a feeling the coaches around here are going to really like Lamb.
Along those lines, I attended a college soccer ID camp at a large club last night. Lots of college coaches in attendance. Those college coaches spent as much time smooshing with the upper level club coaches as they did watching the players. Made perfect sense when I thought about it

No. Keep the high school coaches at high school. Just recruit those kids like crazy. TU should be getting players from Bixby, Jenks, Union, BA and Owasso every year.
