ITS GAMEDAY!!!
Houston comes to town. Hopefully we have shaken off the rust and can put it on the Kitties tonight. Houston Comes in as the #11 ranked team with a NET of 5. Even though they lost two players they seemed to have been able to plug the pieces in the right spot to compensate for it. Hopefully we can get them into foul trouble quick. If we can get them into foul trouble early in the half and we are not stone cold like Wednesday, then I think we can pull this off.
Late schedule change. Boise State traveled to New Mexico to take on the Lobos. This game was Origionally scheduled for February 8 but was moved up when Dan Diego had to postpone their trip to New Mexico on Tuesday. Boise has had three Conference games postponed so this will help them in rescheduling these games. Boise was not supposed to play this weekend.
Utah travels to Tucson to take on #6 Arizona. Arizona has a 2 NET and it would be nice for Tulsa and Utah both to take down 2 of the top 5 teams in the NET. Lets not forget about Oregon State though.
Oregon State almost pulled off the upset of #5 USC on the road. They made some mental errors in the last 2 mintues which cost them the game. I stayed up massively late to watch the second half of that game since they were up most of the game. They now take on #3 UCLA on the road. If the Beavers can replicate the play from Thursday then UCLA needs to be worried.
The only game not getting televised on the schedule is Alcorn State hosting Texas Southern. Alcorn State is 3-0 in SWAC play, while Texas Southern is 3-1 in the SWAC. Texas Southern (5-8) beat Florida in Gainesville this year and had games against Cincinnati and TCU cancelled due to COVID. This might be a really good game to monitor.
Only one cancellation and that is the Arkansas State vs Little rock due to COVID. The SunBelt is cancelling games.
And 1
We need to have consistency in our play. That said the ups and downs with cancelling games and rescheduling games and then having to pause for covid is tough to keep players from getting off their game. I am hoping that is what happened during the Temple game. During the Temple game we shot 29 percent from the field during the first half. We shot 41.4 percent in the second half to get us to 35 percent for the game. We did the same type of shooting at Memphis. We have shot under 40 percent from the field 4 times this season. Ari Force 37.3, Oregon State 38.9, Memphis 38.9 and Temple 35.0. We lost 3 of these games and they were real close to being wins. We have lost 8 games this season so that means there are 5 games we lost that we shot over 40 percent. Maybe we just get teams on their best day and they shoot a really high percentage. Sometimes teams will hit shots no matter what you do. Hopefully no more games get cancelled or postponed and we can get back to where we should be.
