ITS GAMEDAY!!!

Houston comes to town. Hopefully we have shaken off the rust and can put it on the Kitties tonight. Houston Comes in as the #11 ranked team with a NET of 5. Even though they lost two players they seemed to have been able to plug the pieces in the right spot to compensate for it. Hopefully we can get them into foul trouble quick. If we can get them into foul trouble early in the half and we are not stone cold like Wednesday, then I think we can pull this off.

Late schedule change. Boise State traveled to New Mexico to take on the Lobos. This game was Origionally scheduled for February 8 but was moved up when Dan Diego had to postpone their trip to New Mexico on Tuesday. Boise has had three Conference games postponed so this will help them in rescheduling these games. Boise was not supposed to play this weekend.

Utah travels to Tucson to take on #6 Arizona. Arizona has a 2 NET and it would be nice for Tulsa and Utah both to take down 2 of the top 5 teams in the NET. Lets not forget about Oregon State though.

Oregon State almost pulled off the upset of #5 USC on the road. They made some mental errors in the last 2 mintues which cost them the game. I stayed up massively late to watch the second half of that game since they were up most of the game. They now take on #3 UCLA on the road. If the Beavers can replicate the play from Thursday then UCLA needs to be worried.

The only game not getting televised on the schedule is Alcorn State hosting Texas Southern. Alcorn State is 3-0 in SWAC play, while Texas Southern is 3-1 in the SWAC. Texas Southern (5-8) beat Florida in Gainesville this year and had games against Cincinnati and TCU cancelled due to COVID. This might be a really good game to monitor.

Only one cancellation and that is the Arkansas State vs Little rock due to COVID. The SunBelt is cancelling games.

And 1

We need to have consistency in our play. That said the ups and downs with cancelling games and rescheduling games and then having to pause for covid is tough to keep players from getting off their game. I am hoping that is what happened during the Temple game. During the Temple game we shot 29 percent from the field during the first half. We shot 41.4 percent in the second half to get us to 35 percent for the game. We did the same type of shooting at Memphis. We have shot under 40 percent from the field 4 times this season. Ari Force 37.3, Oregon State 38.9, Memphis 38.9 and Temple 35.0. We lost 3 of these games and they were real close to being wins. We have lost 8 games this season so that means there are 5 games we lost that we shot over 40 percent. Maybe we just get teams on their best day and they shoot a really high percentage. Sometimes teams will hit shots no matter what you do. Hopefully no more games get cancelled or postponed and we can get back to where we should be.

GO TU!!!!

SMU and Tulane was a 1 point game with 1:35 left and then Tulane made bad decisions and now it’s 75-66 with 15 seconds left

I like watching the officials sometimes. Quiñones just got called for a charge and the official started from the base line and took about 20 feet to call that charge. Lol

Lunardi will try to move Memphis up in his rankings saying it was a close loss. They could be the first team in history to get an at large bid based on how they look in warm ups.

Appreciate the work you do but there's no reason for "Games of Interest". It's either win the Conference tourney or sit at home that's it.

My heart is absolutely broken from yesterday’s loss. You can see the fight in these kids but what happened in the first half? What changed during halftime? Since we are not in the locker room, we will never know. They were a different team starting that second half. Unfortunately, that was the only time we will play Houston unless it is in the conference tournament.

Some big moves in the Rankings yesterday.

Tulsa moves up 28 spots despite losing to Houston. Houston did move up 2 spots as well.

USF gave UCF a shellacking yesterday and it was rewarded moving up 41 spots in the rankings.

UCF dropped 33 spots. Alcorn State even took a decent size jump in the rankings.

We only have 1 game today and that is Cincinnati at Wichita State in the roundhouse. Wichita State and Tulsa are the only teams in the conference without a conference win. Just think just 2 years ago, both of us were the team to beat and that no one wanted to play.

This is a personal “And 1” today. I don’t post things to offend anyone. These posts that I do were inspired by Ctt8410. This is not exactly what he did but I made it to what I found interesting and the posts have grown in content and structure from input from the members of this board. I do this as I find it fun, entertaining and I get to learn so much doing it. Look I am grown and if you don’t like my stuff then move on with your life. I promise I wont care. If you comment to be a douche, I will ignore you. If you keep coming at me, then it is personal and I promise to all that is holy, you don’t want this smoke.

Enjoy the fruits of my labor (voluntary) and don’t be a massive tool.

Did we go up 28 points by losing to Houston? . If so we need to play them often. But we got out of going to Houston this year!
I am sure it’s a combination of that and others losing. I believe they keep changing up the matrix on how it’s calculated.

Today was just supposed to be Alcorn State and Prairie View but we have two games that were rescheduled.

Utah Travels to Arizona State in a game that was moved from January 13th. Arizona State has played 3 games in the last 28 days because of COVID issues at Arizona State.

Drake travels to Southern Illinois in a game that was postponed on January 5th.

And 1

In Women’s competion, UCF beat #24 USF 67-51 yesterday. This will assuredly drop the Bulls out of the top 25 when they play Tulsa on Wednesday. UCF is 4-0 in conference and 12-2 overall with a 33 NET (they moved up 5 spots with the win). They will not see UCF until the regular season Finale.

The Tulsa Women will only see USF, Tulane and UCF one time each with the only home game of these being the Tulane game. A win at USF might get the ladies into the other votes of the poll.

I for one really enjoy your posts , and appreciated the access to the tournament you guys did when nobody else could watch it

I always enjoy reading these posts. My prediction is that TU will finally win a few conference games and at least catch ORU in the NET before the end of the season.

Another concern is that no one on the team has been able to hit a final shot to alter/win a game - not Horner, Pritchard, or Griffin. This is where Joiner made a difference last year.

The final shot has been a lingering problem. Who is it and who should it be. I don’t think there is a clear cut leader on that team.
