Closing games

this is a couple of big conference games that have come down to the wire that we've pulled out. I'm really impressed with this team's ability to stay focused and find ways to win.

Seriously!
That is not something you would expect from a young team learning to play together.

I had UConn, Memphis, UH, and Temple down as losses heading into conference play. Granted, UConn is down due to injuries but being 3-1 right now is really impressive.

We're currently 4th in the conference and with the top 4's current schedule, it's really possible we could go into the Cincy game with them as #1 and us as #2.
How cool and crazy with that be?!!!

It would be awesome and a testament to the team and coaching staff.

One word of warning for everyone the schedule gets VERY TOUGH starting at the Cincinnati game. I bring that up because it's very possible the team could be 7-1 going into Cinci and then finish the 2nd stretch with only 2-3 Ws. It's that hard.

Even before the 2nd half, we need play our best. Last place USF was down 3 with the ball under 30 seconds left @ Memphis before making a bad pass to seal the Memphis win.

Definitely. I primarily brought that up because as likely as we could be 7-1 to start conference we could lose 7 in the back half. Hoping others on here realize that because should it happen I don't want to see "Fire Haith" or "We have no talent" threads.

Me either, that's why I'm starting to liberally use the "ignore" feature.

Yes....Interestingly enough, It seems we don't have the firepower
to blow out mediocre teams, but enough savvy and ability to stay
with the better ones....Every game seemingly is still up in the air
with 5 minutes to go...

Several, and I am silently included:confused:, complain about Haith's rather
strange line-ups for short periods of the first half....The positive off-
sets of course, is less fatigue and fewer foul problems during those
last five minute rallies.....

Even tho we have little depth at the position, Taplin has given us PG
play that would probably equate to the best in the conference....This
has been a great bonus for this young team, and is responsible for
at least two or three of our wins....

Our schedule does look like it will be much tougher toward the back
end..If you remember, the same thing was true last season, as well....

While looking ahead too far usually serves no good purpose, next
year's team may well be better equipped to compete on equal footing
with the top tier of the AAC...

+1 on the Taplin comment.

I think it's too early to say. A month ago I would have given us 0% chance of beating Memphis or going to Philadelphia and beating Temple. I think there's still some good growth coming this season.
