2024 Election prediction/discussion

I don’t normally post on Crossfire, but I went to lunch today and I just felt froggy. Harris lost this election by being Harris. She was not elected by the dems to be the nominee. She was selected because it was so close to the convention. I don’t think she has had an original thought or idea put out there in the media for us to hear. She put herself out there as the candidate for change but she is in the current administration. That looks bad on her. Her whole “campaign” was, IMO, a clone of Obama. The Democrat forever people voted for her an the people who hate Trump voted for her. Those that really didn’t care and the Trump supporters voted Trump. Her losing Michigan, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin is an indictment of her.

I didn’t vote for with of these two knuckleheads. I voted as a write in. After January 6th I was done with Trump. I can’t stand Harris so I couldn’t vote either. I do believe that they could have put a better candidate up there for the dems and they would have won except for Kennedy. I would have voted democrat if they did.
That’s what is truly sad, out of the whole country , these were our only 2 options ?

This tracks. Everyone needs an excuse for voting against our supreme leader. Make sure to keep your explanation handy when you report to the council.

IMO, if that were the case, Harris would've won this election. Her campaign seemed to be based mostly on fear, propped up by numerous hoaxes. I think that backfired, as that is much harder to do in this day and age, where folks can look up full clips to see what a candidate actually said. Granted, there are still plenty of people out there that just believe what they see on social media and national news, but, obviously, enough folks did their research to see what was true and what wasn't. I think that was the difference in this election. Had the democrats ran Bobby Jr. or some other moderate liberal candidate with solid ideas for change, I think they would've had a very good chance of winning...by a lot.
I disagree Chris. Trump was all about fear and denigrating America. Harris was the one who stood up for America's greatness.

America is great now. Not perfect but not the cesspool Trump tried to say we are.

Sometimes I feel intensely confused how people see the world he describes. It makes me sad that others are so unhappy and I don't relate to it at all.

As to Kennedy, he is a total nut job. Trump is preferred! Kennedy would set back public health 100 years if given any real power. God help us if he is given such authority.

Both parties absolutely could have put up better candidates, and that's a shame.

I saw the other day that Nikki Haley disclosed when she resigned from the Trump Administration that she had $15,000 in a checking account and was more than $1 million in debt, plus responsibility for her parents debts whose business was in foreclosure.

Her most recent disclosure includes as much as $30 million in net assets, a $5 million coastal home and yearly income of approximately $5 million from various corporate and consulting interests, not including speaking and publication fees.

Nancy Pelosi and Jerry Ford would blush. Bill and Hillary would call it an amateur effort,

Prices rarely deflate, they just rise at a lower rate, and the economy spends a few years catching up to the cost in wages. The last time deflation happened with any great verve was the depression. Deflation doesn't even happen in a recession for the most part. It is avoided at all costs because of all of its negative consequences. We certainly don't desire a contraction in money supply.

The same arguments can be made against Trump. You aren't throating a true argument for or against one candidate because Trump doesn't have a good plan for the economy either. And Trump/Covid can be partially blamed for the inflationary period as well as Biden's policies.
It's not logic.

It is emotion and people's poor understanding of how the economy works.

No wonder she had to bend the knee to our glorious and brilliant leader. In the end we all will.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahajajajajajajajajaja.

Good one! You really had me going.

“Did their research” man you are funny. We need to get you on a stage.
I'm not sure why that's funny. If you aren't watching long-form content of both candidates, there is simply no way to be properly informed.

It's fascinating to me how folks can see things so differently. I feel that social media and constant misinformation from all sides has made the political divide so much worse. Most Americans are moderates and lean one way or the other...they have much more in common than they think. But all the BS that is floated out there makes each side think the other is crazy. However, if you take the time to watch all candidates in interviews, debates, speeches, Q&A's, podcasts and anything else you can get your hands on, you see that many of the things said about all candidates is either embellished or just patently false. It is ruining our political discourse.

My point about Kennedy was more about running a more moderate liberal that could discuss issues and think on their feet. I personally would have loved to see Tulsi Gabbard on the democrat ticket. She was my favorite of the group in the 2020 primary.

The good thing for all of us is that we have a Constitution that established three branches of government to prevent any one branch from becoming too powerful. Those checks and balances are important when we end up with bad candidates.

I’m not so sure. I want to see the numbers first. W “won” the Hispanic vote with 40%. But he spoke Spanish, as does his wife and a good portion of his family. And he had a Mexican-American sister-in-law helping him stump and raise money.

If Trump outperforms him, I’ll listen to arguments on a shift.

If she loses, the story will be that she didn’t have time to develop her message.

The reality is that the fundamentals didn’t favor her with inflation, the retreat from Afghanistan and real weakness in opportunities for young men in our society.

Top that off with the fact that she just wasn’t a good candidate. She’s not good at it. Appears incapable of relaxing or delivering concise answers. Refused to discuss any plans. Not really inspiring. Not as bad as Clinton, but up there. They needed a retail politician to overcome inflation. They selected maybe the worst choice for that out of the dozen or so contenders.
I think they selected the candidate they were kinda saddled with by Biden. I have thought about "What if they held an open convention and Pete Buttigieg or Getchen Whitmer emerged?"

I dunno that it makes a difference, as that also fractures the party with a potentially divisive and back room decision. Might have been better, but it's all armchair quarterbacking at this point.

She wasn't perfect, but was the probably the best hope with a badly floundering Biden campaign. If he had dropped out a month later, she might have pulled it off. Or (ideally) a year earlier, and allowed an actual primary to happen. If anyone is to blame, it's Biden himself for not being self-aware enough to realize he was in a fatal position of weakness a lot earlier.

But no hard feelings toward Harris. She was the candidate we had, not the candidate anyone really wanted. And that wasn't her fault. But she gave it her best shot and I have many of the same criticisms as you do. I voted for her because no matter how flawed she was, I saw Trump as an order of magnitude more flawed.

But as drboobay pointed out, people aren't necessarily rational actors and the general public can't easily look at inflation and say "Yeah, that sucks and hurts all of us. But the US actually did better than most countries on that, and was largely out of the control of any president." When people miss rent or go hungry or defer medical tests/procedures, they'll blame whomever is in power. Hard to blame them. Not terribly surprising, just disappointing.

My ideal candidate is someone like GT Bynum. A problem solver who is not too ideological. I saw that in Kasich too. Asa Hutchinson was a great option too.

Trump lost me 100% by his reaction to the January 6th riot. I did not like his leadership approach but his behavior that day disqualified him forever from my vote. He really showed himself and I can never forget it.

Political parties are pretty much fully transformed for the remainder of my lifetime. We have the fear mongers versus the abortion lovers. Both disgust me. So I expect to be unaffiliated until the day I die. I expect every Presidential vote I cast from here out will be for my judged lesser of two evils.

18 million less people did not vote. That is unbelievable. That is not a change election. People just didn't care.

Kamala got 15 million less votes than Biden in 2020

Trump got 3 million less votes than he did in 2020.

The republicans are basking in like they have some kind of huge mandate. I question that. People just didn't vote or thought it inconceivable Trump could win. The dems ran ahead of Kamala in virtually every race. People were not excited to vote for either of these people.

Would be nice to have candidates that were not extremists . I am registered as an independent because both parties are corrupt imo. The closest thing I probably would be considered would be a blue dog Democrat ( pretty much when they were for the working class )

1). Your vote totals are off. Total turnout was only 1 million votes less than the record set in 2020. Considering that was a relaxed mail in vote year the number this year is beyond impressive. People certainly cared and voted. In fact, Trump will have received 10 million more votes than he did when he won in 2016.

Harris spend $1B for 226 electoral votes btw

Upon reflection, I have just as often picked losers in my history as a voter.

Bush
Clinton
Dole (l)
Gore (l)
Bush
McCane (l)
Obama

This is the juncture where I changed my registration from Reoublican to unaffiliated.

Clinton (l)
Biden
Harris (l)

I still think I was right every time and that our country would be better off if everyone did what I did :)
Oops I missed my first Presidential vote.

Mondale (l)

So I come in below .500 lifetime picking winners.

7 Democratic votes. 4 Republicans. The dems have run up the score in the Trump era. It was 4 each until he came along.

The 2024 election is now a month away and this board is dead. Let’s get some predictions and discussions going. Here’s what I see on 10-7-24

Harris got a nice post convention bump and jumped out to a 4-5 point lead nationally. Trump has had a nice 2 week stretch and looks to have cut that lead to 1-3 points. Trump has also gained in the battlegrounds. Looks like a tossup as of today imo. Harris needs to win by 3 points nationally to win the electoral college due to her huge margins on the coasts. Watch the polls carefully these next two weeks. Does the Harris slide continue, stall or reverse. Will any candidate make a significant blunder?

Race comes down to Ga, NC, PA, MI, Wis, Zona and Nevada. These states will once again be very close. Which is why a 1-2 point swing nationally in these final four weeks will be the deciding factor. Watch the national numbers as well as reliable state polling.

Tulsa Mayoral Race….haven’t seen any polling here but my sense is that it’s Keith’s race to lose. Strange dynamics at play here with two Dems running. Keith is running to attract independents and Pubs while Nichols has embraced the local Dem party. Have to think in a presidential election cycle the correct strategy here is Keith’s.
Anyone interested in a real recap on some of what doomed Harris in the final ~45 days, Candace Owen’s employs some excellent researchers who got to some of the stuff I’ve been called a conspiracy theorist over citing as part of Kamala curricula vitae … entertaining stuff wedged between it’s not just Michelle but Macron’s married to a trans man too… I’m sorry, a man pretending to be a woman (pc!)

Oh, to the men pretending to be women: you can stop pretending.

This tracks. Everyone needs an excuse for voting against our supreme leader. Make sure to keep your explanation handy when you report to the council.
Well there are the ~30m people who didn’t vote in 2016 that voted in 2020 & didn’t show out for 2024. About those… something about 3am & water leaks & hired thugs

The truest, most fulfilling result of 2024: black men acknowledging that the Dems treat them like women in an effort to get them to make an important decision based on their emotions! They turned out for Trump for real!

It’s funny. There are many people have always been throughout my life who hate me for my skin color. They hate my face, they hate the pecas, the blue eyes the attractive smile their women love. I can’t imagine if every time I turned on my tv phone or internet connected computer it was actors pretending to be journalists (paid millions) telling me those people hate me so much & that’s why I have to vote for the person they say.

I imagine I’d hate the ever living :crap: out of those talking heads. But I also don’t have a whole race of guys like me to seethe (or brag & bask, in my case) over genetic lotto tickets (or misfortunes if you listen to the haters) & holler victim or cry foul over everything.

Both parties absolutely could have put up better candidates, and that's a shame.
Any suggestions?

Trump was the one who showed the character & open minded-willingness to branch out to others who have both previously & were currently considered candidates in Tulsi Gabbard (former Dem,) RFK Jr (fmr Dem now ind.,) Vivek Ramaswamy (Republican frame presidential candidate ‘24) & Elon Misk (frmr Democrat, lead Climate activist in the world - & no one else comes close.)

Who could either party have put up that would put together a better team than this?

The men who voted for Harris look abysmally weak & nothing not a single photo op or video shoot or meme has done anything to improve NOR STOP the diminishing image of Male voters for Harris!

They focused their campaign on abortion (unattractive especially for a younger gen Z less likely to be sluts & increasingly embracing abstinence until marriage)

It’s so bad that the running theory is the deep state not only gave up on trying to kill Trump, they took a look at what was ahead in their ensuing escalation phase (civil violence) that was to be both a partisan & racial engagement by nature & realized the men they were counting on to keep them alive & in power, half were abysmally weak, a third of which were pretending to be women & the other half still didn’t speak the language so they decided “screw the steal, let Trump take it. He wasn’t that bad. Beats this ferry of tuggers not of boats!”

Lmao

Someday you’ll understand how funny it was.
How about y’all’s 20m+ (30m by some estimates) from 2020 that no one knew existed in 2016 not showing for 2024? They the anti woman misogynoir that got Biden elected?

Lmao

I can’t wait until Trump with check balance full approval gets to the bottom of 2020 & you emotional fucquittables realize how wrong you’ve been the entire time! & that’s absolutely happening prison time for the real corrupt actors incoming!

Someday you’ll understand how funny it was.
What’s it like knowing the party you support would rather trick you into being emotional & making a choice that you’d otherwise be considered to not make & is thus an irrational choice for whom you to vote in favor?

Because that’s what they do with all the racist name calling bull:crap:. It’s just them being the real racists, believing they’re more likely to get black men to vote Democrat than actually sharing with them what the rich Democrat elite strategy & game plan is, they believe they have a better shot convincing you to support them by repeating lies about their opponent (who they believe you’d naturally vote for & this is true black men are by nature conservative) being racist which will get you emotional & angry enough to make that irrational decision & vote Dem.

What’s it like? When did you become aware of these facts?

All the numbers aren’t in, but this is fascinating. A majority of White Americans did not vote for Trump. Blacks, Hispanics, Jews and Muslims voted Republican in record numbers.
That's just crazy. Edit that to be white females?
