So the latest USMNT training camp roster for October is out. Steffen is back in the mix although he has an awful "goals prevented" stat-line. No Reyna, Adams, Dest, or Chris Richards who are all nursing injuries. Pochettino has mentioned that it will be hard for players to be part of the squad if they're not getting regular minutes at their clubs...seemed like a dig at Matt Turner and Ethan Horvath who are both riding the pine. Turner essentially needs to come back to MLS (and New England) where he can start and get regular minutes. He's not even playing at Crystal Palace right now and they're dreadful.
Saw an article on ESPN about P0chettino and what he's looking to do in formation and how he attacks. 4-2-3-1, high press and fullbacks will move high up to support the attack. But he's also intent on playing out of the back and that will be an Achilles until Adams returns. Our CBs are not designed for that and none of our GKs can really play that style effectively. 2 games this month vs Panama and Mexico. Will be glad if we see an improvement in attitude towards friendlies and we come out focused and ready to play. We have thrown these games away under Berhalter and it leads to not being able to be ready intensity wise at opening kick for meaningful games.
I think we will struggle in these games without 2 of the 3 main MFs being involved. Does Pulisic run the 11 alongside Balogun or Sargent or does he drop into the MF with McKennie to trigger and Weah and Balogun run the Fs in this formation?
