USMNT New Era

Pulisic hasn't done squat for Milan lately, including missing a PK today in a loss. This team pretty much sucks and it's doubtful they make next season's Ch Lg. Maybe Pulisic should continue his contract negotiations until the summer window to see who's sold & brought in. Another new coach might also be in the cards.

Sarge gets another brace this morning and is closing in on the Golden Boot in the EFL. His 11 goals (& 6 assists) after only 20 matches ( Match Day today is #34) puts him 4 goals from the top.

"I think he is the player we expected, even better probably"; "......has been a major part of the team". These words from the Bournemouth coach which blew a chance for moving into 4th place today in the Prem. Tyler Adams is back to his own superb self.

I watched Milan today and Leao was considerably worse than Pulisic. Invisible. GK also made a terrible clearance resulting in an own goal. They are a disjointed mess.

Pulisic is still their second most productive player after Reijnders.

Milan's GK may be the worst starting GK on a top club in the world. He's just dreadful to watch, makes terrible decisions with the ball at his feet. Seriously, if a Milan defender makes a mistake in the back it is almost certainly going to turn into a goal.

Watch out for two new names in the pool maybe upcoming rosters.

Damion Downs and Noahkai Banks. Both 6’4” big bodies. Can fly. Interesting challenges posed by both very young players.

Downs a forward who could be a difference maker.

Milan is 2-0 down in the 70th minute today when a lucky deflection brings them 1 goal back. Pulisic then takes over by drawing a PK and converting. Five minutes later he gets a pretty cross from Leao for a 2nd and a 3-2 Milan lead and the victory. Had Milan lost, there was no doubt that their coach would be sacked. It will still likely happen but he can thank CP for 1 or 2 more paychecks. Pulisic now has 15 in all comps and several games to go to surpass last year's total. His 2-month scoring slump is officially over.

Sarge scored yesterday but a tie didn't help their chances much of making that 4-team playoff for promo to the Prem. Still, he's moving up the EFL scoring charts for the Golden Boot after only 21 games played.

Another great goal from Pulisic (and Reijnders) today. By far Milan's best players this season. It is a joy to watch those two guys.

And Haji Wright is back from injury in a big way! Scored off the bench the other day and gets his hat-trick today. Is he called up? I don't think so. Coventry City has won 10 of 12 lately & in 5th place in the EFL. Wright might end up in the Prem if this continues. Sarge scored on Friday but his team lost.

Wright wasn't called in for the Nations League games this window and his injury status had a lot to do with it. Augeyang (Charlotte) was called in, Carrot Top was called in. Balogun was not. I feel like there was another MLS striker called in as well. For the most part is the usual suspects called in along with a couple of the MLS guys who played well in the last window (Luna got called in).

They have Gold Cup and Club World Cup this summer too. So that in part drove who was called in for this camp. Some teamsw won’t release for both this and the Gold Cup. And you don’t want guys playing two full seasons with no rest … then the World Cup next summer.

Wright and some of the guys on this list should make the Gold Cup roster if healthy while CP, McKinnie Reyna and a couple of other guys are out playing the Club World Cup this summer. So you get them in camp to learn the routine now. Very MLS heavy. Groan.

What a freaking craptastic performance. Pulisic was pretty much non-existent until the last 10 minutes. Sargent wasn't great. Musah played well. Joe Scally played well. Adams was fantastic as usual and everyone else was a blend of meh. Stupid thing is the US completely dominated this game and had 1 big error and that's all that was needed. Play with a little more urgency in the 1st half and they might have pushed a goal or two in. They didn't play with any urgency until the last 10 minutes and some stoppage time.

Granted it was a partially depleted squad, but when hasn’t it been?

US soccer needs to stop saying this was a shocker and look in the mirror. When was the last time we didn’t lose to Panama?

The team clearly has adopted the English philosophy of why get injured for country and $10,000 with millions on the line at the club level. Yes, I know about the insurance.

They say Reyna didn’t play because of the Richards injury and they were waiting until overtime to begin before the sub. But that just tells me Poncho was playing not to lose, the defense was soft and Turner, who should’nt be playing because he hasn’t been playing, clearly made a glaring error. Not a howler. This was preventable because he was rusty and they knew it.

5 more windows until the Cup and we don’t even know if we have a spine or whether CP will be playing in his natural position.

Barf.

Landon called them all out and said we don’t need their talent if they don’t have the desire.

Couldn’t agree more.
Yesterday was dreadful. It also spotlighted the importance of actually playing for you club team. Turner looked absolutely terrible this weekend, a byproduct of him only being a training player at Crystal Palace. He'd be better off coming back to MLS and playing FT.

Pulisic was not good this week. If he wants to be the best player to ever don the Stars and Stripes, he needs to show up every game he's out there. Granted, referees allow him to get hacked at constantly with no fouls. There were 3 separate occasions in the Panama game, late, that he was getting chopped down outside the box with nothing called. I did see a ref recently issue a yellow card for persistent infringement for consistent fouls on a particular player, not a number of fouls committed by one player which is usually where you see this applied.

Yesterday was sort of a wash for me. Poch didn't play the normal backline and I think Ream has glued that group together and Scally was so good the other night. Not making excuses because the overall performance was pitiful. I do want to see Agyemang and Luna part of the group going forward. Maybe they can push Carrot Top and Balogun to move and do something. And I don't like Pulisic at the 10. I'd prefer to see him out on the left or right. Very few FBs can contain him. Bring Reyna into the 10 and let him create. And Reyna needs to just start playing and not trying to get under everyone's skin. The BS with the fouling and pretending like he's innocent at the end yesterday was bush league.

Sofi is a disaster. Whoever scheduled this needed to be walloped.

Didn't we learn after the US-Mexico game in the Rose Bowl that US games are never to be played in Los Angeles ? My sister and brother-in-law attended that game. They said it was insane. This was sold as a two-game package. The Mexico game was packed. It would have been a home game for Mexico had we played.

A 4 pm game in Los Angeles on a Friday with 100-dollar parking and probably 100 tickets? That is a 500-dollar proposition for a family of 4, and I haven't even been bitched at about food or drinks yet.

I don't need to hear from Lando. He talks about his heart, but he couldn't stand up and go to Europe when he had the chance. Call the wambulance. Can't stand listening to him

It’s a CONCACAF tourney. They pick tourney venue and broadcast time. And they picked it to maximize Mexican revenue both media and tickets.

Landon was a head case, no doubt. But he was always ready to roll for the USA. Except that whole I need a vacation thing to piss off JK.

I can’t imagine taking a family to a sporting event these days. Much less a concert.

The dirty little secret of USA ticket prices is the women insisted on a share of ticket revenue, both men and women, so the prices have skyrocketed. It’s geared to a percentage sales price, but something like 3% of what you pay in a ticket price for a men’s game goes directly to the women’s players. And another portion to their overhead. And another fee for youth leagues. And another fee to what amounts to a pay off to SUM. Then the promoter and so on. It’s ridiculous

You have two kids who are both good at soccer. They might be interested in the game. There are lots of families like that.

If we went today and it was up to me, Reyna, Sargent and Musah might not even make the squad.
I do not understand why Musah has been starting for Milan. Unimpressive performance.

Sargent was invisible.

Reyna cannot see the field anywhere.

But who instead that really makes a difference?

Do you watch Milan?

Brendon has been playing pretty well. Why not him?

It sucks that Antonee Robinson, Pepi and Dest have been hurt. Dest is one my all-time favorite US players. He and Pulisic are two of our best players of all-time. They are one of the few players that can take on anyone 1 v 1 1 with speed.

Why does Turner keep getting game? It is nuts.

I do watch Milan regularly. They have been disappointing but Pulisic and Reijnders have been terrific. Christian looks like a completely different player there.

I get the feeling Poch likes the big physical MFs which is why Tessman has been getting the opportunity. But Poch, an Argentinian, should know that Argentina won the last WC with a freaking verifiable midget in that central MF role with MacAllister and he seems to be working out pretty well for Liverpool. But I am guessing thats the reason why Aaronson hasn't been utilized much with Poch.

Turner looks like a GK who hasn't had many meaningful games played in a full year. He needs to go back to MLS so he plays full time. He'll get plenty of action there.

As for Dest, when he's healthy, I would like to see the US go back to him and Weah running up the right side. The two of them created so many problems for teams with their speed and technical skill. And Pulisic and Jedi on the created a different set of problems for teams. Which makes it so important that Poch ID a 9 who can both hold things up and distribute as well as make those important runs to drag defenders away from Pulisic and Weah. Who's the hold up? Balogun....not convinced he can play that style but he can make the right runs at the right time. Carrot Top? Not sure...he's good at holding play up but he's not super dynamic at finding space away from the ball. Luna...maybe but I don't think he's mentally in the right space. He gets down on himself way too easily and it has an extremely negative impact on his play. Vazquez? Pepi? Too similar to Carrot Top IMO.

Problem, is we all keep saying "when the US is fully healthy"...except I'm pretty sure that's never gonna happen so we need so guys ready to step in and play. Scally showed well last Thursday. I was really impressed with him running in Jedi's spot. Adams was Adams and what people in England know is he is an underrated and reliable 6 that can get his team out of his own end.

We have one competitive cycle left before the World Cup in a couple of weeks and our full squad will not be available to train together.

Our coach says in a postgame he needs to familiarize himself with the players.

A current MLS player currently in the pool but likely too old to compete says the lockerroom was frequently indifferent to wins and losses and more importantly the significance of representing the United States. And more troubling the management frameworks knows about it and tolerates it because there is no depth.

You speak of Ream. He's more old school, that bridge between the Donovan's and Dempsey's and the current group. The talent is definitely there for this group....but we all question the desire and urgency to accomplish something.

It’s not Ream. Walker Zimmerman.

It’s not Ream. Walker Zimmerman.
Is that why he bailed? I know he took himself out of consideration for a couple of the more recent camps (last year or so). Not that I think Zimmerman was ever a long term solution at CB for the US.

If that is really how they look at things, that is thoroughly disappointing that we have this much talent being wasted.

I remain hopeful that someone will be left off the roster of the gold cup as a message to the others. I think it might happen and it may not be who we think.
