Tulsa's RPI and NCAA Tourney chances

Not really. It would be the same if SMU and/or Temple won out. SMU tied or not, isn't seeded. Temple wins the tie breaker w/ us based on their record against Cinci and/or Uconn, thus nothing changes, tie or no tie. :(
SMU's record and standing would count towards the tie breaking procedures. So it would go Temple, Tulsa, SMU and you'd break the ties from there. Unfortunately, the tie breaker doesn't take in account how you played on the road...that would be the ultimate card to hold as we are the only team to beat SMU in Dallas this year...conference and non-conference.

I wasn't saying SMU didn't play into it, I just didn't get down to brass tacks with the issue that there is not an advantage for a 1-0 record vs a 1-1 record or vice versa. Result is the same regardless of wording, but it was poor choice of the word seeding on my part. Essentially no advantage for either of us vs SMU and comes down to records vs Uconn & Cinci.

Got ya. I get that...my wishful argument would be our road win vs SMU is better than Temple's home win vs SMU.

The first updated bracketology I've seen post-Wonder Years loss still has us in bracketwag.com. The guy, out of Indianapolis, who does this one was on The Buzz Friday for an interview it was a great listen.

USA Today has us as a 10 seed and 3 other AAC teams in.

Projections as of 9 a.m. ET on Feb. 29.

So I think we still have a chance to be in the picture if we beat UCF.

Do we still have to win the AAC Tourney ????

What say you ????

Go TU!!!!

TU at least must make the finals to be considered.

Agree. Need at least finals. Win yesterday and we would be in with semi loss but now have to make the finals. I want Memphis again!

I do not want Memphis again unless it is in the final. We need another good win, meaning top 100 at the least.

I just don't want those refs again!!!
I don't want to play any of the top teams without Smith. We can't sustain a 4 guard lineup with only 2 rotating frountcourt players and expect to win against any of the top 6 teams.

Except against Temple (evidently).

If Smith is not going to be available, we'll need to adjust our strategy. Hopefully, that would include more trapping & ball pressure on D. I think that is our best way to beat any of the top AAC teams, anyway.

I think we need to get to the finals against Uconn or Cincy or win against anyone else to get in. I don't think Temple has that much of a chance at an at-large. They are in a lot of brackets because they are leading the conference among eligible teams. Tulsa and the C teams are the legitimate at-large contenders and if two of those three get to the finals I think both are in. Otherwise I think it's a play in game.

Still have a reasonable shot at an at large:

The consensus has us in for now. Last team in if you don't count Temple.

Need Iowa to beat Michigan on Saturday.

Beat USF on Saturday.

Go TU!!!!

TU won't get an at large bid w/o beating Cincy, Temple or UConn, need another top 50 rpi win.

Well.... Another Top 100 win against Houston could do it -- Tulsa just needs to get into the Championship game folks.

And Houston is playing as good as anyone right now. LOTS OF TALENT.

I think Ws v. USF, Memphis and UH gets TU in even if TU loses in the finals to Temple-UConn-Cinncy. Being on the opposite side of the bracket from UConn-Cinncy is great. Memphis is the perfect opponent to fire up TU after the showboating at the end of the game in Memphis. UH is hot but I'm optimistic TU is the better team on a neutral court.

Agree MC, we'll destroy Memphis with a different crew of refs, but Houston will be a nail-biter. If Sampson doesn't get AACK! coach of the year after last season( & their destruction of Cincy last night), it will be a travesty.

I'm just hoping we get Smith back by the Memphis game and we shove it up theirs in a 20 pt win. This will at the same time show the selection committee that we got screwed, and we are better than losing to Memphis, even with the screw job by the refs.

Little concerned with the updated Lunardi bracket today...

Even with Cincy and UCONN getting pounded, they didn't drop much...

Looks like the ole Cane may need to win the tourney.

Assuming we have to win the tourney to avoid the "play-in" game?

I'd think yes, almost certainly. Some brackets have us as the top last 4 in, and others have as at the bottom. Not enough wiggle room to move up since we'll play Memphis and Houston. Slight chance we could get lucky with some major upsets by teams right about us in power conferences, but not likely.

If we win the conference tournament we are,in of course but also avoid the Dayton round.

Lunardi has LSU on the cusp?!?!?!
F'd up. Really F'd up.
And Cincy gets a bye?!?!?!
F'd up. Really F'd up.

How many times did Lunardi get pummeled on the playground growing up? Like every day? At least every other day....

That's because ESPN is plugging the next NBA star in Simmons and of course they want to plug one of their future properties

Well he doesn't make the decision in the real world so screw this worrying about him. Here's the deal shut everyone up and go win the damn tourney geez. Just run them all already. We have nine freakin seniors. They need to just go do it already. Poop or get off the pot. Go make some noise. On top of that Haith will certainly get coach of the year. Also, we will end up with 2 or maybe 3 1st team all tourney players. Geez lets stomp a mud hole in USF tomorrow and storm into the tourney and take no prisoners. LOL, I'm off my soapbox. Feels good to get that off my chest. Cheers fellow Hurricane backers.

We are in on 50% of the brackets on bracketmatrix. A double digit win tomorrow gets us in another 20%. Make it to the finals and we're in a play in.
Win the tourney and we're solid as an 8-10 seed.

...and, unfortunately, TU has two straight tough games (if we're fortunate) that doesn't help in perception or the computers.

I really think we need SMU to win at Cincy but that probably doesn't happen.

I don't think the Tourney will take four. Bracket Matrix has been trending down for us. Cincy and UCONN are getting the benefit of the doubt on name only.

Our RPI is the highest in the AAC of eligible teams. We will finish higher than both if Cincy loses in the conference. We have similar SOS's. We have the most Top 100 wins.

But they have the names.

Regarding other bubble teams everything seemed to go our way yet it didn't show up in the Bracket Matrix.

Very concerning

Good news we can beat Memphis and Houston to get to the finals.

GO TU!!!!

Hopefully Haith won't be satisfied with collecting his Ojcik 20 win bonus.
Not likely, IMO Haith is the first coach since Tubby you truly appreciates what he has with TU. He has been at 3 higher profile program, and probably appreciates his opportunity at even more. I get the impression he wants to take TU to greater heights than Tubby and Self did. He knows it will take annual trips to the NCAA tourney to do so.

I think much of this seasons success can be attributed to his hiring of Schwartz and promotion of Shea. I could see Schwartz developing into an up and coming candidate. Hopefully TU can hand onto him until high mid-major programs with tradition come calling. I also have read great things about English. It all starts with the coaching staff. Tubby and Bill's success can be attributed to great coaching staffs.

+1, CTT probably knows what TU needs better than anyone. But at this point in the season, I get the impression rpi matters much less than what have you did in your last game? IMO, the committee has already flagged pooled the teams based on rpi, and TU is one of them. There are a handful of bubble teams that are intertwined with TU. I would think said teams need to lose. Obviously the bracket gurus believe the UConn's, Temple's, and Wichita's are in much better shape despite lower rpi and other computer ranking measurable.

Pull for SMU to beat CIN, CIN to beat UConn next week, and Temple to advance?

Need Cincy to lose. Need cincy or uconn to beat temple.... Need to get to championship game.

You don't think Temple beating UCONN or CIN eliminates those 2? Temple winning the AAC has to give them a leg up when it comes to teams getting bounced in semis And staying in the picture.
