TU media release...

TULSA, Okla. –– Two sets of Cowboys, one from down the Cimarron Turnpike in Stillwater, and the other from Laramie, Wyoming, along with conference foes UCF, Houston, Memphis and Navy will visit H.A. Chapman Stadium in the fall to face The University of Tulsa on the gridiron.

Tulsa's attractive home schedule will begin on the third week of the season as the Oklahoma State Cowboys come to town on Sept. 14, and a week later the Wyoming Cowboys will make its first trip to Tulsa since 1998 when the Hurricane claimed a 35-0 victory in the season finale.

OSU visits Tulsa for the 40th time in the Bank of Oklahoma Turnpike Series. The two teams have met 72 times overall in the series.

UCF finished the 2018 season as back-to-back American Athletic Conference Champions and was ranked 11th by the Associated Press and 12th in the final Coaches poll. UCF, from the East Division of the AAC, last played in Tulsa in 2015. Tulsa leads the overall series by a 7-3 advantage.

American Athletic Conference West Division rivals Houston, Memphis and Navy will be back at Chapman Stadium this season. They each last appeared in Tulsa during the 2017 campaign.

Tulsa's road schedule is highlighted by non-conference road games against Michigan State to kick-off the season on Friday, August 30, and former Western Athletic Conference opponent San Jose State a week later. Looks good...praying we have a QB and WRs that know how to play this year. And an OC that can call actual plays.
We will have a QB for sure, let’s just hope the WR‘s can develop. I will be watching the OL as well. No real standouts but no real issues I have heard either. Anybody have any insight there?

The WR Corp should be a strength going to the season. I like the QB to spread the ball around and include the TE and RB.

Great schedule - all teams that have name recognition, so hopefully that helps with attendance. There’s no one on the schedule that would make someone (even a casual fan) say “who the hell is that?”

Coach Monty is the OC.

As for junior days...there will probably be a couple in March, but they'll have a big junior day during the spring game in early April.
Do he have a graduate assistant helping compliment his game plan. Does someone note his play calling to ensure he is balance so he don't get too predictable?

Hasn't Wyoming struggled in the past few years, similar to TU. Easy to see that the @ San Jose game is critical early to the hope for a winning season. 6-6 may require road wins @ ECU, SMU and Tulane. And that means one upset in conference here.

Bowl eligible last three seasons. First round draft pick at QB a couple of years ago. Big differences.

But some similarities over the past decade to the Graham and BB years. Lots of 2 and 3 place finishes in conference play. Lots of losses to teams like BYU in close bowl games.

It’s a fair match up and a good measure of whether the program is at the level we expect it to be.

It isn’t fair to expect to beat the OSU Cowboys because of the mismatch in budget and the advantages in recruiting that brings. But it’s a winnable game.

It is fair to expect to beat the Wyoming Cowboys and if you fail to do so, it is an indictment of the coach and administration regarding the overall stewardship of the program.
