Past Player Spotlight today is Brandon Betson. This was just a quick overview nothing in depth. Betson is now with Sacramento State as a Senior. Sacramento State is 6-12 on the year. Betson started the first 8 games of the season and out of the 18 that the team has played he has missed 4 of the games and 3 of those have been the last three games that were played. Sacramento State won 2 of those three he did not play in. He has logged 302 Minutes this season and is shooting 34.7 percent from the field, 31 percent from 3 and 85.2 percent from the line. At Tulsa he was 41.5 percent from the field, 40.9 percent from 3 and 82.1 percent from the line after logging in 782 minutes.

Well that game could have gone better. We didn’t shoot a bad percentage but they shot over 54 percent from the field and made more three pointers than we did. They just had a good day. We still made over 70 points so I am not too upset about the game. We are still looking for that illusive road win. Hopefully we can get that on Saturday at Rice.

Today’s games

Memphis at Tulane
FAU at UTSA
Wichita State at USF

AND ONE

While we are still looking for that first road win, our next opponent is Rice. Rice got their first AAC win and it was against Temple in Houston. Tulsa got their first Conference win against UTSA. We have lost to ECU, Memphis, Tulane, SMU and Charlotte. We can get a win at Rice as Temple almost beat them. Not only do we need to get a Road win but now we need to beat a team that isn’t an expansion team. As of right now we are 1-1 against CUSA and 0-4 against the American.

GO TU!!!

He's going to be awfully hard to land. I imagine some big school will see that and convince him to come off the bench even though he could easily be starting for us

UTSA took FAU to Overtime but came up short. These games are going to be tough everyone.

Crazy AAC basketball. UTSA beats Tulane by 1. Cross still talking to officials. Wichita is 0-6.
FAU squeaks by Rice. Rice center has 18 rebounds against the 7 footer.

Crazy indeed! I am shocked by the Shockers (no pun intended)! I really thought they had the makings of a quality team. Head scratching going on in Wichita!

With the way they performed in non-con though, I thought they would compete better than this in conference. They had three or four decent wins in their non-con, and only one bad loss to N Dakota St. The only teams that blew them out were Kansas and Liberty. And those weren't bad blow outs. I expected them to win at least 2 or 3 in conference by now.

AWWWW DID YOU MISS ME!!! Been real busy at work so I was not able to post the last two days. Tuesday Charlotte edged out a 6 point victory over UAB who led at one point by 20 points in Charlotte. Yesterday FAU knocked off TU’s next opponent, Rice 69-56 in Houston. TU plays at Rice this Saturday. South Florida beat Temple on the road 75-69. East Carolina continues to find ways to win knocking off Wichita State on the road. They shot a very low percentage than WSU but they put up about 20 more shots than the shockers and the shockers had 19 turnovers in the game. This was the big deciding factor. UTSA upset Tulane at home 89-88 Tulane had the better stats than UTSA but the one that did it was Free Throws. Tulane was 18-29 while UTSA was 21-30.

I started comparing records of the top 7 against each other. Everybody is either 1-1 or 1-2 against each other with one exception.(Fla Atl - UAB)

The toughest schedule so far, and the winningest record against other top 7 teams is Charlotte.

They are 3-1 against top 7 teams!!!

I guess that 8 pt road loss to them wasn't so bad.

SMU was clearly the more talented team but UNT has a lot of grit. Their players are definitely those blue collar guys that come and will be hell bent if you're gonna try to outwork them.

I think this is the first season of conference play that I have seen in 10 years or longer that any team can beat any other team. Usually we have had that team (Memphis for years with Calapari and Houston with Sampson, Wichita and Cincy ) that the bottom teams rarely had a chance. This year the expected cellar dwellers can play with the top teams.
