ITS GAMEDAY!!! Today Tulsa hosts the Roadrunners from UTSA at the Reynolds Center. UTSA has one conference win and that is against Rice. Tulsa is still looking for their first conference win of the season. Last year we had one win and that was against Tulane who we played earlier in the week. Hopefully we get over that hump today.

Todays Games

UMASS at Loyola Chicago
North Texas at ECU
Tulane at UAB

Full Schedule is below.

Critical game for us today. When you have been through a series of close losses, a season can turn on a game like tonight's. Could be the difference between a competitive conference record versus just a few wins. I am optimistic for tonight.

They just took Memphis to overtime. Of course we almost did the same.

We spent quite a bit of virtual ink in these GOI threads on Antoine Davis last year and his chase for the scoring record.

So it’s at least noteworthy that Detroit lost in 2OT tonight to drop to 0-19 on the season. They are still coached by Mike Davis… for now.

LAST NIGHT WAS AMAZING!!!! Huge win in many ways. We got our first conference win of the season, stopped the losing streak and busted the century mark. Gonna soak this in still until we go to Dallas on Saturday.

Todays Games

Wichita State at FAU
USF at Memphis
Oral Roberts at North Dakota

Full Schedule is below.

AND ONE

Working on a possible government shutdown. The great thing about working for the government is job security. The bad thing is that we have a bunch of whiny children running it, and you don’t know if your going to be sitting at home not being paid for a while or not until the children learn to behave.

GO TU!!!

USF comes back from 20 down to win at Memphis 74-73
Couldn't happen to a nicer group of Tigers. Parity has hit the AAC. Penny played his son Jayden Hardaway 10 minutes when he couldn't score or rebound either.

North Texas, leading the league at 4-0, is about to receive their come uppance. Their next 3 are @Charlotte, SMU, @FAU. Would be surprised to see them come out of that 0-3 or at best 1-2.

ORU is bad.
ORU freaking sucks. They're about to enter another massive downturn....or get back to their normal. They have good years when they run into a generational player (caleb green, abmas)...but outside of that they stink.

I was about to go off on Absmas only being good when he plays against sucky competition so I went to look at his stats...he's still freaking good shooting 40% from 3 and avg. 17.8 ppg this season. He's Texas' leading scorer. BUT, Texas is not very good this year and as I'm sure everyone has seen Terry's rant about UCF players being classless for throwing the Horns Down after UCF beat them in Austin, UT is struggling a lot. My guess is teams are taking advantage of Absmas on the defensive end. (Don't get me wrong, most players from UCF are classless but for different reasons than just the horns down).

Absmas is a one-trick pony and I know he thinks playing at UT this year might get him a chance at the NBA but his lack of ability in defending the ball boy is going to relegate him, at best, to the G league but more likely he'll end up in some Euro league or even Asia.

No game I am tracking today. Tulsa men and women play tomorrow. The men did go up 2 spots today in the NET

Sterling Gaston-Chapman at UT Arlington has gone from playing 18 minutes a game to 9 but has increased his 3 point shooting percentage from 11% to 12%. Always good to check on your former players from time to time. I wish him well.

Another guy that might have been of use, Chukwu.(Garden City CC)
(Except his free throw percentage, yikes.)

  • PTS: 9.3
  • FG %: 68.8
  • Blck: 2.1
  • FT %: 40.7
  • REB: 7.8
  • Ast: 0.7

I’m guessing the first line you mentioned is the forward from Chicago who plays for McNeese State.

Forgot about that open roster spot
If I had a choice, I would've kept Chukwu instead of Nikita, and kept Keita. Knowing we don't have any hoss centers being tough in the paint, I would've kept Chukwu, and hoped he got in better shape over the summer.(lost a few lbs of fat, and gained a few in muscle)

With 2.1 blcks, 7.8 rb, and 68.8% fg, it sounds like he is their hoss. He leads them in blocked shots and field goal %, and is a close 2nd in rebounds.

Forgot to mention, he is a close 2nd in overall rebounds, but leads them in offensive rebounds. Another reason to keep him.
Out of everyone on last years team I would have kept Special K, Selebangue, Betson and maybe Griffin. The rest I was done with.
