TU and this board have lost one of our own. GameParson - Reggie Epps has passed away earlier today.

I met Reggie in 1978 when he transferred from JUCO to TU. He was a starting linebacker. Reggie followed in his father’s footsteps and became Pastor in the KC area. His son Zach played at TU several years ago. Reggie was a positive influence on everyone he met. He was a great friend and teammate. He will be truly missed by his family and those who knew him. Please keep his family in your prayers. RIP

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced a football officiating alliance with the Big 12 Conference, the Mountain West Conference and the Southland Conference.

More than 300 officials will be under the alliance’s umbrella, ensuring consistent training, evaluation and grading processes across the conferences. The alliance conferences will use this pipeline to develop a ‘bench’ of officials that have been trained and evaluated under consistent philosophies and mechanics.

Each conference will have its own coordinator of officials to manage its respective officiating programs, with the alliance overseen by Big 12 Coordinator of Officials Greg Burks. The American’s Supervisor of Football Officials will be Bryan Platt, who has served in that role since 2018.

3-star Crandall (TX) receiver Joshua Smith visited the Tulsa campus in mid-June, and he recently listed TU in his top seven. The 6-foot-4 and 215-pounder is impressed with the Golden Hurricane so far.

For a school that produced record setting tight end Garrett Mills, and standout pro Charles Clay, the fall of production for Tulsa tight ends has been staggering. The drought, however, may be over. With a new sheriff in town in offensive mastermind Kevin Wilson, a significant number of passes may be flowing to tight ends in Wilson's first year as Tulsa's head coach.

So the city of Tulsa can no longer enforce traffic laws when tribal members are involved..

I spoke with Jack Tanner today. He is announcing his commitment tomorrow (6-29-23). He has over 25 offers. Tanner is 6-6, 290...just a massive dude. Probably stronger in the lower body right now than the upper, but has serious potential. Very bright kid. From what he told me, Tulsa is in pretty good shape. His official visit to Tulsa was June 9.

He should announce at noon tomorrow.

College Station (TX) A&M Consolidated athlete Trace Meadows picked up an offer from Tulsa in late May, and he plans check out the TU campus in late July while attending a Kevin Wilson Football Camp.

Tulsa Football is on an incredible recruiting run. In 10 days, the Hurricane has picked up five commitments from highly-recruited prospects in the 2024 recruiting class. On Thursday, it was Flower Mound (TX) Marcus offensive lineman Jack Tanner, who holds over 25 offers.
