🏈 Recruiting Tulsa gains commitment from 3-star ATH Elijah Green

Another day, another 3-star football commitment for Tulsa. On Monday, it was Crandall (TX) receiver Joshua Smith, who chose TU over offers from Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Mississippi. On Tuesday, Oklahoma City (OK) Classen athlete Elijah Green committed to the Hurricane over offers from Missouri, Texas Tech, UTSA, Navy and others.

📝 Larry Lewis Bryce Bray is back to bolster Tulsa offensive line

Everything is looking up for Bryce Bray. And that should be a big boost to the Tulsa offensive line in 2023. The 6-foot-5, 306-pound Bray is a sixth-year senior from Bixby with basically two full years of college playing experience as a starter, first for OSU in 2019, then for TU in 2021. Missing 2022 due to academics was a tough one for Bray to accept, but he made sure that wouldn't happen again.

🏈 Recruiting Jones visits Tulsa and is closing in on college decision

2024 Spring (TX) Klein Oak defensive back TJ Jones has racked up over a dozen offers and says he could make his college decision this month. The 6-foot-2 and 185-pounder picked up an offer from Tulsa in May and visited the TU campus in late July.

🏈 Recruiting Buddha Garrett discusses his commitment to Tulsa

Tulsa football coaches picked up another addition to their 2024 recruiting class over the weekend with the commitment of Longview (TX) defensive back Daedrion “Buddha” Garrett. The 6-foot, 200-pound safety chose TU over offers from Boston College, North Texas, Louisiana Tech, Texas State, Arkansas State and others.

Game 4

It is fun to think of beating either Washington or Oklahoma, but the game that is a "must win" game for me is #4, Norther Illinois. Win this one and it is likely TU will be 4 and 2 heading in to the tough part of our conference schedule.

Northern gets the starting QB back who was injured shortly after playing TU last year. They also get their leading rusher and receiver back. Having the entire starting Offensive Line back will also give the Huskies a shot at having a stellar MAC offense.

Game 4 is also huge for them. They have Boston College and Nebraska in their first 3 games. They don't want to start in a 1 and 3 hole as well.

We lucked out at home against them last year and this is going to be a tough win, but in my estimation a "must win" for TU to launch 2023. 2 and 2 is a world better than 1 and 3.

MLS and the Messi Impact

Messi, along with Sergio Busquets, has taken Inter Miami from a last place MLS team to one of the best in the Americas. They are ridiculous right now. Messi has 3 goals and an assist in 2 games. Beyond that is the confidence the rest of the team is playing on top of just better technically. Sad thing is they may not make the MLS playoffs as they are so far back in the standings. I'm hoping other MLS teams are able to lure other aging super stars to MLS. He may be older by Messi is instantly the best player in MLS by a wide margin and he doesn't look content to do the Ibra walk around the pitch until the ball falls at his feet thing.

It will be interesting if this drives players to MLS and MLS sees this as an opportunity to invest real $ into bringing players in and elevating the level of the league world wide....which would of course bring more $$$ to the league.

🏈 Recruiting Update on 3-star ATH Viron Ellison

Tulsa was one of several colleges to offer Lewisville (TX) athlete Viron Ellison a scholarship after his breakout junior season. The 3-star prospect now has the Hurricane in his top five and made a visit to the TU campus this summer.
