Getting to 6

Looking ahead at the season I feel that game 2 is the key to TU getting to 6 wins and a bowl game. The difficulty of winning in Jonesboro is that ASU also needs this game badly to avoid a 1-3 start. Their next 2 games are at Michigan and Iowa State. Hard to see ASU won't be major underdogs. They are banking on a win versus TU and have made this game a red out and have invited 500 high school band members to perform en masse at this game. This will probably be ASU's largest home crowd, and a win against TU makes them 2-2. I forgot to mention that ASU players dot the preseason all Sunbelt first and second teams including the second team QB. This is a game both teams need to reach 6, and I predict a major dogfight.

In TU's case a 2-2 start means TU must win 4 league games. In looking at the schedule there are perhaps just 2 that TU will or might be favored @Temple and home against FAU. Beating ASU gives TU a 3-1 start and getting to 6 would be much more doable.

This is the Republican Party

I will bet you lunch that expenditures (absent debt service) increase during the next four years regardless of who gets elected. Adjusted for inflation of course.
Can't really take that bet until I know who wins... because in several scenarios I agree that expenditures are likely to increase. I suppose if the split government does occur we can think about it. Regardless, I do believe the spending under a split government would be much less than it would be under a single party.

Yanks in the UK & Europe

Our new MNT coach might cast an eye on the English Championship season which started yesterday. A couple of strikers always out of favor with Burrhalter are off to rousing starts. Haji Wright scores a brace including the game winner for Coventry City and Josh Sargent misses 4 good chances in the 1st half, but scores & gets an assist in the 2nd vs Blackburn Rovers this morning.

I have no doubt that Pochettino can identify the best players and will use them. These 2 might be there at the end.
Blackburn Rovers? Back in the Championship?

I thought they were fallen to league two not long ago. Nice to see a historic club back at a higher level.

Ream's 37 and probably wasn't going to play as much for Fulham this season and asked to come home to MLS which Fulham agreed to do for him. That's a good get for the domestic league. There are several rumors out there about Sargent coming to MLS as well but Norwich wants $22M for him. I believe there is a German side and an EPL side (Brentford maybe, especially if Toney leaves) also inquiring about Sargent.

Hear me out…. If the Dems win the Pres and Pubs win Congress they will probably use reducing spending as a political tool for the next cycle like they did with Obama…. At least that way you would get what you want. If the Dems or pubs win both they will spend more.

We’re running a $2T a year deficit and one party is wanting more tax cuts and the other is pushing new spending programs. WTF is wrong with these people and shame on the media for not calling them all out.

Personally I’m hoping for a split government (R Senate, D Pres) with a close house distribution. Kamala is a bit to off the deep end of liberalism for my tastes, but she’s better than Trump

P.S. I don’t think Trump winning the pres and the Dems taking Congress would be good as the Dems would cave to tax cuts. They’re spineless.

Berry Tramel appears to call TU Football the New JUCO of Football

Berry Tramel is a good writer who has a conception of the landscape. His grasp of Oklahoma athletic history is as good as any writer in Oklahoma.

Unfortunately, what he wrote is the truth.

College football is the minor league of the NFL anyway, and now, universities have a salary cap of 20 million a year for athletes. This does not even include NIL money.

I love the pageantry, but the constant movement around the portal and the players' pay ruin much of it.

This is professional athletics all the way around. If you don't believe it, you are dumber than dirt.
