According to Wikipedia, which as we know can never be wrong :), Joe Scelfo will be OL coach and run game coordinator, which means that we're looking for an OC. I think that makes a lot of sense. Scelfo is only 30 and doesn't have a ton of experience. I don't want some old retread who's spent decades banging around the bottom third of CFB but would be good to get a creative guy more late 30s who's ready for the OC leap.

Do you read every post? Apparently not.

The hirings of the 3 coming from ETSU have been announced, but I didn't think their roles had been announced yet.

I just put their positions at ETSU down, and will change their title later if it doesn't stay the same as it was.

Football Coach is the least of our problems

The King years were the worst, and he was an alumni hire. It got so bad my girlfriend who was an avid basketball fan got discouraged from attending, although those were the days of attending in the atrocious “Fairgrounds Pavilion”.
One of the best games I ever saw at the Fairgrounds was Memphis State with Isaac Hayes after the Movie "Shaft" came out
and TU featuring Willie Biles . Sold out with a lovely smokey haze in the rafters giving you all the second hand smoke you
would ever need .

Reisig was the best Oklahoma high school quarterback the last four years. The offense was all him.
OK, so that's patently not true. He was the best HS QB in OK...that's not questioned. Him being the entire offense...not true, especially last year and the year before (this year, after Waite was shot, he certainly was most of it). He's had some great RBs at Union and the OL (before this year) were actually pretty good. Grayson Tempest and Jino Boyd and Lane Wood (TE) were all better than your avg. HS WRs and created mismatches for every defense. Add to that Carrasco and teams were just not equipped to deal with Union's skill players. And it's pretty easy for a QB to throw to wide open receivers.

This season was definitely different. While the RB tandem was excellent, the WR room after Jarek Waite was injured and couldn't play anymore, was definitely limited, and in turn, brought out some of Reisig's limitations. And let's be honest, Reisig forces a lot of throws to receivers that aren't open. The losses in the playoffs the previous 2 seasons revealed this.

This year Union just wasn't very good comparative to Owasso, Jenks, and Bixby. The defense lacked speed and the DL wasn't stout enough to contain the run and it exposed the LBs lack of athleticism/speed. The OL wasn't great and not having the WR who could stretch the field, it allowed the D to play closer to the LOS and limit the underneath stuff. Against the good teams, Union simply wasn't capable of creating explosive offensive plays.

This is the US health system

I have been out of a particular prescription for over a month. It's been phoned in several times, and held up by various things like a "prior authorization". I have no pharmacy in town that works with my insurer (for real), so I have to do the mail version as it is a kinda expensive script ($600/month).

I was relieved to hear last week that they were finally shipping my prescription! And then, no. I got an email the next day that they "needed additional information from me and would withhold shipping until I reached out".

I called about a half dozen times. One of the calls I finally got the stupid AI agent to refer to the correct prescription in dispute and it just literally repeated the email to me about how I needed to contact them. After spending an hour on the phone trying to do just that, that was the last thing I needed to hear.

Finally, I got it to connect me to a real person. I had to sit on hold for about an hour and a half waiting, with no options to schedule a callback or any updates on how long the wait would be or how many people were ahead of me.

But finally, finally, I was able to talk to someone and ask, "What information do you need from me that is preventing shipping?"

The only thing they wanted was to confirm that I still needed the script, and if I had a preferred ship by date. That's it. Hours of my day for that. Thankfully, it is not a life-dependent medication, but they still wasted my time and made me go without for almost a month while they dithered.

I also had an issue where the insurance company denied a claim when my daughter was born. As a newborn, she had to be life-flighted to Albuquerque and admitted to UNM for a major life-saving emergency surgery. The insurance company denied the claim for the flight saying we could have ambulanced her there for cheaper (two hours away). They apparently wanted me to second-guess the doctors who were telling me my 20-hour year old needs attention NOW and could die in an ambulance (because yes, I did actually ask about an ambulance instead). I had to go back to the hospital and collect a statement from the attending physician and dispute their denied claim and it again took a whole lot of time that I shouldn't have to spend. They eventually paid up, but they first made me deal with a ton of crap at a very stressful time in my life.

When stories like the above are so commonplace and can involve life-saving medications and treatments, it's only a matter of time before someone unstable enough to do something crazy is tipped over the edge and goes out and does something crazy. I know practically everyone in the country has at least one story like the above.

Might not be a popular take, but my thoughts are actually with the family of the CEO.

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN

How many of our OL are graduating? The underclassmen at this point are being re-recruited.
Maybe Ray Burnett. He started in 2019, so he has a year of covid eligibility. He's only played 4 years, but he wasn't on a roster for anyone in 2022, and I don't know exactly how that works. I think he gives up a year of eligibility for that year, despite not being on a roster. He redshirted in 2020. He's the only one that is probably finished that I know of.

Tulsa HS Football

Well, missed that. I don't get the TW and it's not like the local stations cover anything HS football related outside of games on Friday nights.

As for the parent speculation thing...I get it. I am not saying they're the ones in the know, they're probably going off of gut feelings and thinking the guy who's been there the longest gets to take over.
I just saw it on Twitter.

For real. I can't tell if Dub was calling plays to win the game or calling plays so Reisig's dad didn't get pissed they didn't throw the ball enough. I mean, if you're running the ball for 7 yds a carry for 6 straight plays and the other team knows it's coming and still can't stop you, why do you call a play to throw a deep out to the opposite side of the field to WRs who really couldn't separate? And if you're the QB coach as well, why the hell don't you work on the mechanics of your QB to not throw off his back foot every play? Reisig is good, strong arm, can make every throw but his bad habits bit Union in the ass, and his dad's insistence on throwing a certain number of times per game meant that ass got chewed up on certain days...behind a line that struggled to pass block.

If Reisig's ego (or his dad's ego) doesn't get in the way at BC, Bill O'Brien might be able to put Reisig in the NFL.

Anyway, I actually like the Graham hire a lot and I think the players are going to like it a lot and the Union community is going to like it a lot.
