If you look at the rankings app yes. But TSC 14’s have beat them last 2 times. TSC 14’s best Energy in Last match up a month ago also. Waylon has that group playing good. If I had to place a bet on that game I would take TSC until WSA beats them.

I think I would take that bet today. Saw them play a few weeks ago. Playing in the top Dallas league has really helped them imo. Hope we get to find out. Would be a great game. We both know a lot of those girls will eventually find their way to TSC. Top players follow the letters.
Tough day today for my friends at TSC. The girls lost every ECNL game to Energy except for the 07s. Getting those girls back from Energy has really helped that 07 group.

I had a 7v7 semifinal and was the only official in the game. I asked the Blitz assignor why they don't use ARs and it's because he can't get enough people for the games in the first place so they sacrifice ARs on those games so they can hopefully be full crews in the 9v9 and 11v11. I can say that we get abused physically in tournament weekends. I did 9 games from the start of the tournament until my last game at 4:30. 5 games on Saturday and I'll be honest I think 4 is my limit at my age and with the knees I have. I actually felt fine for my 3 games today. My feet are sore but the knees feel good. I can say for certain that a lot of refs who are assigned to games tend to bail late in the weekend between injuries or getting abused by coaches. My 13 year old got some flak on a U7 4v4 game that was a blowout. And the coach was so upset at his parents he pulled his team off the field and had the match abandoned. I got flak from a winning team parent whose team was up 13-0 with about a minute left, and I called a handball on them. Dad starts yelling "are you freaking g kidding me". I just put my hand up and said "that's enough".
I was pretty even tempered this weekend. I can always tell the teams (and coaches) that don't like games to be even a little bit .
My favorite was a u13 girls final. Blitz vs Celtic. I think the Celtic team was an upper tier team, maybe an RL side. The Blitz team was maybe a 3rd level team. Celtic was very good. Blitz coach harping about every throw in that didn't go his way. Me and the AR on that side we're in good position to see thing a clearly and we were on the same page for every call he questioned. He also griped because I restarted with a drop ball after a collision between his player and the opposing GK. There wasn't a foul on the play. Keeper got hurt, her team got possession, I blew the whistle to stop play and check on her. Restart is a drop ball, I back the blitz players up the required distance (4 yds), Celtic restarts and in 3 passes they have a break on goal and a scoring chance. Mind you the drop ball happened about 3 yards outside the Celtic penalty area. Blitz Coach is screaming about it being my fault that I gave them a drop ball that almost resulted in a goal against. And this coach has been around a long time (he's also an assistant for the Union girls soccer team). It kills me coaches don't know the laws of the game and the constant updates and clarifications.
Favorite game was a U12 final, TSC vs Union SC. Some decent quality soccer. Union SC scored a crazy goal to go up 4-2, where a kid took the ball out of the air just outside the TSC area, juggles it in the air 3 teams and then whips a volley over the keeper from 20 yds on a real nice golazo. It was actually a well played game. TSC GK made a tremendous save on a PK and his team got a nice break right after. Probably the hardest I had to work all weekend as there was a lot of action end to end in that one. TSC had good tactics and understood what they were taught and needed to do, they weren't as individually sound technically as the Union SC team. Union SC had a true hold up 9 who was a load to handle and Union SC had some more clinical finishing.

Parents are ridiculous!! Coaches are almost as bad. Like every profession a percentage of the refs should be flipping burgers at McDonald’s.
Your assessment about girls landscape in the 14 age group is not accurate.

Hopefully those teams will play in the next six months and end the discussion. If not we may have to wait for SuperCopa invites and resutls. I don’t have a 14 so I don’t have a dog in this fight. It’s a talented age group in the Tulsa area. Bodes well down the road for ECNL

They have played multiple times in the last six months. Weird that the guy's daughter used to play for the team and just randomly bounced.
I did. Started just as we were getting ready to kick off my 4:30 final. I believe it was a grass fire that started between the apartments and the gravel road on the east side of ISSC and the fire spread quickly and apparently charred a few cars and the fence. I swear it took 15 minutes before we heard any sirens and yet there was an off duty BA cop there doing traffic duty. We could see the flames pretty clearly and we were on the far southern end of the complex (east side) so 400 yds away or so. Coaches were trying to get their players to focus on the game at hand and not the billowing black smoke.

Ah. It's toxic because of the parents and the politics and when you have a club owner who doesn't want to disappoint parents and allow kids to be moved down a level because he fears they will leave and take their money with them, that's sort of counter productive to the academy director's mission of developing soccer players and putting them in position to thrive.
Leo was brought here with the mission to run an elite level futsal program. We went to nationals with him his first year here. Everyone there knew him. It was impressive. Budget cuts along with losing coaches forced him into regular coaching. He’s done a really nice job imo. Hopefully he stays.
Titan has killed a lot of thoughts on futsal plans here. Even the volleyball teams think the prices are crazy now for court time.

You're talking about Joao Cerbino? Or is this a different Joao? If it's Cerbino he coaches like 9 and 10 year olds, at least that's what they look like when I see team pictures.
And yes, club soccer, in general in Tulsa, has had the same toxic political atmosphere. Some of it has to do with OSA and other league orgs not enforcing the in season recruiting rule. I know WSA did it all the time and they'd recruit kids from all of the other clubs in season and guest playing them in tournaments without following proper procedure (which is your club contacts the kid's club and has a form filled out and a copy of the player pass issued for that tournament). I remember my kid playing a WSA team in their tournament and tournament rules said max 3 guest players, and this WSA team had 6, 4 from Energy (Blitz) and 2 from TSC. It was pretty blatant because all the kids know each other anyway and know where they play. WSA always lured kids with the promise of not having to pay anything. But there's no accountability between the clubs for this behavior. Do they even enforce the "Levi" rule anymore? That's another one that creates this insanity.
I’m convinced everywhere has its own issues. Dallas certainly does. 5 ECNL clubs. Parents start calling other clubs early March. Deals with coaches from other clubs are made late March / early April. Current players told status late April and advised to look elsewhere if they are being replaced. We had 7 new players this past year. NL rosters are set prior to tryouts except for maybe one spot held open in case a surprise girl shows up. April isn’t a fun month in Dallas ECNL soccer. Yet they all keep doing it. The positive is there aren’t the politics down here compared to Oklahoma. When you have a huge pool of ECNL players it’s not necessary.
If some coach did that and you were on a highly successful team (the most successful team by miles) would you take your daughter off the team and go somewhere else? Would you try to get other people to end his employment and get a new coach? How do you approach someone acting like that? Or do you let it ride because he wins and has built a cult of personality?
We left a coach like that. Two other starters quickly followed and left. The next season no less than seven starters on his new team asked for their release. The club was finally forced to fire him. Not because of anything he did in the clubs eyes but because of the lost revenue. Lots of kids don’t have good options at other clubs. With limited options many are forced to stay in a toxic environment.
I don't have an answer other than coaches need to report it...but they don't because they know it will come back on them and their club eventually. And there's certainly a difference when it happens in May vs happening at showcases/tournaments in November/December. May is tryout season anyway and there's a reason why clubs want you to sign your commitment form during tryouts. All the clubs purposefully set their tryout dates for the same week or try to get in a week before. When my son considered leaving TSC the first time, he told the coach he was going to check out another club/team because he had friends on the team and knew they needed a GK and the team coach was the former Bahamian GK coach. It would have been a good fit except my son didn't have a good feeling about the team actually sticking together (4 players left, 1 for TSC, 1 was focusing on football, and 2 went to Blitz). The next year, my son contacted Eklund's team and told his coach at TSC about it and his reasoning was he didn't like the way TSC dismissed players during tryouts and didn't encourage open competition for spots on higher teams. He almost left but he was not quite ready for that change. He did leave the following year for Blitz. He knew players on the team and the coach spent a good amount of time with him during the tryouts trying to gauge his feelings and what he was looking for. And in TSC fashion (this was sort of the same tryout thing every year where they pre-separated all the teams and sent them to different fields and the upper coaches never saw any of the other players in the pool, sort of the way Lawpoke describes) and my son was done with it knowing he was better than the next GK up (from players who played on that team but also knew my son and his game). And yes, every club suffers the same political BS. I think there was only one time a coach approached my son and all he said was, if you're looking for a different club and experience, let me know. Again, that was April after a tournament.
It's sort of like the NCAA and the tampering. All the schools do it and no one wants to report it because it will come back on them.
My daughter was an AR on a U11 girls game between NEOFC and BA Express on Sunday. She said the NEOFC coach was pretty loud and obnoxious and "rude" towards his players when they made mistake. Found out later it was Dave Bolding, former Jenks HS, Bixby HS, and I believe current Owasso HS coach. And that would track. Watching a Bixby HS game a few years ago, we sat with friends from Bixby right behind the Bixby bench and every mistake was met by a harsh tearing down statement from Bolding. Not a single bit of constructive coaching. And everyone could hear what he was saying. I am all for tough coaching, but there has to be some actual coaching there.
Never heard of Dave Bolding. Sounds like a jagov. If he was ever part of Jenks, he was most likely the janitor.
We’re in Austin this weekend for the Texas League Cup final four. That’s the good news. The bad news is we play Real Colorado (#6 team in the country) on Saturday and should we win would play Solar (#4) on Sunday. Basically a long drive to get your ass kicked. Credit to the girls for making it to the Semis though
He was an assistant at Jenks for 10 years (2007-2017) before taking over at Bixby (2018-2021) and he moved to Owasso as the boys head coach in 2022. Which tracks because my interaction with him in HS came at Bixby in 2021 when my son was a FR at Union. So the game my daughter was on where he was coaching an NEOFC team on Sunday, the center ref was a former player of his at Jenks. Former player didn't like him then for the same reason I mentioned above.
What is rude vs not rude? Dave is pretty nice to his peeps. How much actual competitive sports has your daughter played? I like Dave personally and get along with him very well as an official. He is a cynical ass, which I find hilarious. There is a big difference between making fun of 17-year-old boys' dumb decision-making and saying girls are incapable of anything at all, like Joao did. He is the best coach Owasso has had. Owasso has some talent now, which does help, too, and they lost in the semis this year.
As for the Brazilian homey Joao, he said to his girls they are incapable of doing anything and entirely worthless. Screw that. Again, there is a big difference between listening to me and making fun of them doing silly things, telling them they are idiots for coaching and saying they should never do it because women are incapable of coaching. It's intolerable.
I told my wife about the Joao incident, and another person said to me about it last night at practice without prompting me, so it is making the rounds. My wife and I agreed we would walk out on a team like that regardless of how good the team was and how good we thought he was making our daughter technically. You got to stand for something.
Joao has been doing that for years. First at TSC and now at Blitz. Nothing ever happens other than a “stern” talk. This is nothing new.
Parents can only do so much. Parents submitted a video of him calling little girls a derogatory term to the TSC brass. His punishment….an apology.
Um, parents can yank their kids from the club and they'd have a good case that it was an abusive environment and a threatened lawsuit would result in refunds as much as the clubs love to tell you that you signed an agreement. The minute 3-4 sets of parents threaten to yank their kids from a program, the club would take a harsher stance against the coach. Anything that threatens a loss of $ for the club and they would take it more seriously.
