Whole fourth quarter has been a struggle for TU offensively. Defense wasn't spectacular, but other than a few lapses was solid. Temple just made shots, hard ones, easy ones, inside, mid range, outside.
Was a winnable game, team is still figuring it out and hit a rough patch. Wyvette had a solid start then got frustrated with bad shooting and showed some freshman mistakes. Hopefully they can take some lessons from it. Temple just got hot and Tulsa couldn't throw it in the ocean which let the game get out of hand.
Final
Tulsa 52
Temple 69
Temple shot 55% to Tulsa 30%
Tulsa is smaller and expected to get out rebounded and did 41 to 29
The guards did a good job and our help defense was strong leading to 23 temple turnovers. Tulsa had 12 but a couple at bad times when the game was close including in the 9-0 run to start the half that put Tulsa behind. Tulsa went 8-16 from the free throws and should have taken better advantage of getting Temple fouling early in quarters. Tulsa shot five more but Temple made 7 nullifying the advantage.
It really came down to shooting. Doubt anyone expected Temple to shoot like they did vs SMU last game but not sure anyone would think 55% there 3s weren't outrageous but they did go 6-19 including a couple difficult ones.
Next game is the 30th. Couple good teams mixed in the next four games then Tulsa should be able to string some wins together. Keep making progress and they are probably a WNIT team.
Looks like a 3 bid league right now with USF, UCF, and Houston being pretty good. Temple, Tulane, ECU, WSU, and Tulsa look like the middle group while Cincy, Memphis, and SMU seem to be trailing behind a bit.
