Bounce back game, hopefully girls are ready to go. Early morning game, temple was pretty solid last year, but all Temple athletics have struggled because of covid restrictions/cases.

The replay will be on ESPN plus. If the game remains close I will give spoiler warning in case anyone wants to watch the closing few mins on a replay.

Need to get back to winning. Schedule sets up nice and hopefully we can sneak in one or two other ooc to help it out.

Early, offense great ball movement, good shot selection. Started with a good percentage but missed last four or five.

Defense active, Temple has hit a couple deep shots.

Both teams look like they are still a little sleepy, not quite up to speed.

7-6 Temple just under 5 mins left 1Q

Tulsa was picked last (we're not last) Temple fifth. Announcers brought up a good point, preseason conference predictions are hampered by transfers and that so many freshman are coming in ready to play at a high level. Coaches/media know what you being back but more new pieces mean it's harder to see how they will impact.

Like the men's team Tulsa watches as terrible shooting teams suddenly get hot. Temple was horrendous at outside shooting. Hit two deep and had two more in and out.

Life as a Tulsa fan is watching absurd 3s drop.

Mya with a casual NBA 3.

Evans another freshman is a hustler, girl works her but off. She is also clearly adjusting to the game and seems to be playing better and better. She'll make a nice interior player to build around with Wyvette.

Temple has gotten hot, Tulsa was laying off on some of those outside shots since Temple has shot so poorly lately, I expect that to change.

End of 1Q

Tulsa struggling just a bit. It's clear the girls are still trying to figure out how to as a team impose themselves on the game. Maltilda may not have a great win loss record, but the girls have great basics.

2-1 break, Tulsa freshman Evan's on that hustle trailing. Pass and catch a bit awkward, wyvette makes sure she puts it on the glass for a rebound opportunity. Evans slides in on the rebound smooth, stop, two feet up strong, gets fouled.

Arm.wrestling match now.

Tulsa trying to impose itself. Generally getting what they want, missing but hustling. Defense tightening. Back and forth.

Glad to see terrible reffing is a gender neutral problem for teams.

Tulsa couple bad breaks, a slip up and Temple gets largest lead of game.

Game of runs right now. So spoiler alert as we head to the fourth quarter. If you watch the replay its going to be a little over an hour and twenty minutes in for the fourth quarter starting.

End of 3Q
Tulsa 42

Tulsa needs to make shots. They aren't bad in their selection, just not knocking them down. Temple got its offense working and is making or getting fouled and picking up freebies.

IGNORE SPOILER, BAD FINISH

Tulsa runs a nice set play for Wyvette after an out of bounds. Wyvette tosses ball in picks up screen and sets up as ball comes from top of key. Open 3 missed.

Intensity for both teams is up. Tulsa gets trapped smart time out as Temple is now using a jump trap.

Same score 9:08 4Q

Tulsa is going to have to start hitting shots or this game will slip away. Not a lot of transition but coach has turned up some full court pressure a handful of possessions, may see more of that. Temple seems better in the post, Tulsa's guards seem dominant.

Tulsa forcing it and not getting what they want.

Temple settles in groove.

Everything going bad.

Wyvette showing freshman tendencies. Lescay showing upper class man leadership. Tulsa needs to make more defensive plays.

Another horrible ref call, same ref, overruled the second ref again with a worse view again. Temple knocks down another 3.

Temple can't miss now. Tulsa can't make or even run offense.

Tulsa misses free throws, rebounds, misses open shot.

Temple made zero 3 pointers versus a bad SMU team, shooting it quite well versus Tulsa. Tulsa has been a good outside shooting team, have been bad, Tulsa fan life 😁

Fade away fall down bank shot, sure why not?
Tulsa missing lay ups. It turned into that kind of a fourth quarter.

Whole fourth quarter has been a struggle for TU offensively. Defense wasn't spectacular, but other than a few lapses was solid. Temple just made shots, hard ones, easy ones, inside, mid range, outside.

Was a winnable game, team is still figuring it out and hit a rough patch. Wyvette had a solid start then got frustrated with bad shooting and showed some freshman mistakes. Hopefully they can take some lessons from it. Temple just got hot and Tulsa couldn't throw it in the ocean which let the game get out of hand.

Final
Tulsa 52
Temple 69

Temple shot 55% to Tulsa 30%
Tulsa is smaller and expected to get out rebounded and did 41 to 29
The guards did a good job and our help defense was strong leading to 23 temple turnovers. Tulsa had 12 but a couple at bad times when the game was close including in the 9-0 run to start the half that put Tulsa behind. Tulsa went 8-16 from the free throws and should have taken better advantage of getting Temple fouling early in quarters. Tulsa shot five more but Temple made 7 nullifying the advantage.

It really came down to shooting. Doubt anyone expected Temple to shoot like they did vs SMU last game but not sure anyone would think 55% there 3s weren't outrageous but they did go 6-19 including a couple difficult ones.

Next game is the 30th. Couple good teams mixed in the next four games then Tulsa should be able to string some wins together. Keep making progress and they are probably a WNIT team.

Looks like a 3 bid league right now with USF, UCF, and Houston being pretty good. Temple, Tulane, ECU, WSU, and Tulsa look like the middle group while Cincy, Memphis, and SMU seem to be trailing behind a bit.
