Are you able to give us a quick rundown on this years squad?
Maura Moore returns on the mound. Maura is very good. Alexa Hopkins returns and Brinly Maples transferred in from McLennan Community College in Waco. I'm guessing those 3 will eat up most of the innings. They have another transfer from Colorado and a freshman from California, so there is depth. Hopefully Moore gets some help from the others.
Position Players: Return 3 everyday players from last year and 1 transfer that has played a lot.
Claira Skaggs will be at 3rd again, Claira had a very good year last year. Hit .331 last year and has a career .276 average.
Celeste Wood returns, sounds like she's moving to the outfield after spending last year at 1st base. Hit .221 last year and a career .238 hitter. Celeste having a good season at the plate will be needed. Both Claira and Celeste are 3 year starters.
Maci Cole will be moved to the middle infield after getting most of her starts last year at catcher. Maci, will start off somewhere at the top of the lineup, .269 last year after transferring from Junior College. Maci's versatile and can help the team anywhere Strimple needs her.
Paige Knight transferred in from New Mexico State and Oklahoma her freshman year. 1st base or DP. Middle of the line up kid, has hit well at her previous schools.
Faith Russell returns from medically redshirting last year and will play 2nd base. Left handed hitter that will be at top of line up with Maci, had a good fall at the plate.
Danielle Burns 1st or DP. Danielle has been in the program for 3 years but not a lot of AB's.
Have 5 freshman that should see time, 2 may start in the outfield. Annika Dill from Poteau is one to watch. Showed some good game in the fall, especially at the plate. Brookley Foster from Owasso should see time in middle infield. She was out with knee injury most of fall, hopefully she's good to go. Amber Turner will likely do most of the catching with Emma Vickrey medically redshirting with a lingering shoulder issue. 3-4 freshman may be starting Friday.
Team will not have the speed they've had the last couple of years.
Go Canes!
