Tulsa Softball - Week 11

[Tax Guy]

This weekend Tulsa (38-5/12-2) travels to San Antonio to face UTSA (20-23/7-8)

Saturday's double header starts a 2:00
Sunday's game starts at 1:00

Road Trip Wednesday is to Stillwater to face OSU (23-18) game time 7:00pm

OSU game is actually a rescheduled game rained out on 3/5. The return game originally schedule for this date (4/23) is now next week (4/30)

Not paying attention enough...the games are Friday and Saturday this time, not Saturday Sunday.

Game 1

Tulsa 4
UTSA 0

Tulsa had 7 hits 0 errors and 5 LOB
UTSA had 2 hits 1 error and 7 LOB

Catherine Horner was 1 for 3 with a 3 RBI HR
Cierra Hughes was 2 for 3 and scored once

Aimee Creger was more like we're used to seeing, pitching the complete game giving up 2 hits 3 walks and had 11 K

Game 2

Tulsa 12
UTSA 11

Tulsa had 13 hits 2 errors and 10 LOB
UTSA had 9 htis 1 error and 3 LOB

Was not Caitlin Sill's day as she exited in the 3rd with1 out giving up 9 runs, 6 ER on 5 htis, 2 walks and had 3 K
Bailey Erwin pitched 3.2 giving up 2 ER on 4 hits 1 walk and had 2 K
Aimee Creger came in the 7th facing 2 batters and with 2 K

Wild finish! Down 4-9 going into the 7th Tulsa scored 8 runs to go up 12-9
UTSA scored 2 more in the bottom half before it was over.

Ed Suarez, San Antonio's sports announcer twitted "Still stunned at @TulsaSoftball comeback in game 2 vs @UTSASoftball today. 8 runs in T-7. Who does that?" He also twitted "Aimee Creger is an elite pitcher with a wicked change-up."

UTSA had 2 hits 0 errors and 7 LOB

Jill Barrett was 3 for 5 scored once, walked once.
Erica Sampson was 2 for 5 and was HBP
Haley Henshaw was 1 for 4 with a HR (lead off HR in the 11th)

Aimee Creger pitched the complete 11 inning game. Giving up 1 ER on 2 hits walked 4 and did hit 2 batters and had 16 K. 180 pitches is what it takes to get through 11 innings.

Polls are out.

Tulsa moved up one spot to 15th is one poll and held to 18th in the other.
RPI slipped to 23rd.

Jill Barrett's batting average is .476 ranked 7th.
Aimee Creger's 1.17 ERA is 10th.

Team Batting average is .342, ERA is 1.51 both 7th.

Record is now 15-2 at the top of C-USA and 38-5 overall for the 2nd best W/L percentage.

@cowgirlSB has announced out that admission is free to the game tomorrow, to try and "Pack Cowgirl Stadium!"

Tulsa had 5 hits 2 errors and 8 LOB
OSU had 3 hits 0 errors and 5 LOB

Julie Kernen was 2 for 3 with a double
Catherine Horner was 1 for 1 an RBI single in the 6th. She also walked twice.

Aimee Creger pitched another complete gaem giving up the 3 hits plus 2 walks and had 11 K.

Including this week's games the record is now 42-5 overall and 15-2 in C-USA

There was one game earlier in the season. No more are currently scheduled, but I would expect we'll be able to see some of the conference tournament and NCAA regional games.
