Chances of an at-large bid?

I was going to ask this the other week but lost track of things. What seems to be the main issue this year. I know we started ranked and we have fallen pretty hard. Our record while good is not TU level performance. I realize we lost 2 studs last year but is our offense lacking or do we have a pitching problem?

We just dont have an elite pitcher like Creager this season. Its a fairly young team as well, but they seem to be a very talented young team. Bargfeldt and his staff have done an excellent job recruiting.

Oh and the AAC is very competitive this season, UCF is a top 20 team while USF and Houston are always very competitive.

I love this team. I firmly believe they are capable of being competitive and beating anybody in the country on any given day. Taking off the blue/gold glasses, they have also lost a few games they should not have.

The pitchers have 2-3 games each they would like to have back. But there were 2-3 games that they pitched very well, kept us in the game but the bats were not able to push a run or two across. Nature of the game.

The team has grown this year. They started off ranked based on last year's very special season. Those don't happen every year. However, this season is not over by any measure, and would expect (if they take care of business) to be the 2 seed in the conference tournament. From there anything can happen. This week they play 2 against OSU, and at this point in the season cannot look past OSU. These are the type of games they should win and have dropped a couple. This weekend number 25 Kansas comes to town for 2. Next weekend Houston comes to town for 3. We'll know more about how far they have developed this year very soon.

Two really bad calls in game 1. The play at second in the top of the seventh was clearly an out and the play in the bottom of the seventh that was called a foul ball (drove home the tying run) looked fair on the TV angle. Either call goes TU's way probably a different outcome.

Saturday 4/25 results
Game 1

Houston 5
Tulsa 4
Houston had 9 hits 4 errors and 9 LOB
Tulsa had 5 hits 0 errors and 8 LOB

Game 2

Tulsa had 5 hits 1 error and 6 LOB

Tulsa took the lead into the final inning in all three games.

Tulsa is now 30-17 overall and 9-6 in conference.
That may not be good enough for an at large NCAA bid and need to win the conference tourney to extend post season schedule. (still very do-able IMO)

In the recap I missed that Julie Kernen's HR made for her 56th RBI of the season matching Skylar Swanson (2009-12) for the TU single season RBI record.

Tulsa ended the regular season 34-17 overall and 12-6 in conference.

Because Tulsa took care of business on the final weekend against UConn and Houston dropped 2 against Memphis, Tulsa still ended up the 2 seed in the Conference Tournament starting Thursday. I'll start a 2015 Post Season thread with that schedule

University of Tulsa softball senior Julie Kernen was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.
Kernen, a first baseman from St. Louis, Mo., picked up her first CoSIDA Academic All-District honor. She will graduate this month with a 3.971 grade point average in speech language pathology. This season she has recorded a school-record 58 RBI, leads the Golden Hurricane with 27 extra base hits, including 12 home runs and 15 doubles, and compiled a.669 slugging percentage and a .436 on-base percentage. In conference play, she led the American Athletic Confernce in runs scored and doubles.
Kernen ranks among the top-10 in 11 career categories at Tulsa. She is just the third TU player to record 25 home runs, 40 doubles and 145 RBI in her career. She was a two-time Conference USA All-Academic Team selection, C-USA Academic Medalist, and has been a member of the Tulsa President's List and Dean's List. Last month, she was selected to the University of Tulsa Ultimate Team, honoring excellence in academics, campus involvement, community outreach and athletic participation
