Transfer portal 2023

Can they still do those preseason international tournaments? I feel like this season would be a great year to do it.
I think he will schedule a pre season international tournament in 2024 . This year may or may not have a early regular tournament for TU as the early season emphasis is going to be toward "Wins" to gain confidence and not the "NET".

Just to clarify those are this year’s classifications. when play starts they will all be one higher except for Gibson who redshirted last year at Clemson.

So is Seals going to stay on a scholly or go back to walk-on status?

I am fine with him as a walk-on, but as a scholly player it seems like a waste.

I'm thinking it depends on which players we get, and if we still have a serious need at a position after we get the 12th scholarship. I have a feeling he will be a walk-on, but I would say that's not cut in stone yet. Just my thoughts on it, no inside info.

I hope he doesn't and schedules a weaker out of conference schedule so the new kids can get some confidence and maybe some wins. Those who think we need them for the NET are nuts. We will get a decent NET if we win conference games down the road. Losing to Oregon State and the early tournament games gave us a loser mentality that never recovered last year.

We certainly won't want to(nor should we) go to the ESPN, NIT, or Continental events.

I’m selfish, I want to go some place where I can enjoy a nice warm weather vacation in November or December and see TU play several games. One of the Bahamas tournaments or the Sunshine Slam in Daytona would work and I could get my wife on board for those. The one in the Caymans might be more expensive but I could probably get her on board for that one also.

What would you have done if we got into the London Basketball Classic?

Vegas & Savannah(Hostilo) are still open. What would you do if we got invited to one of those?

I know you are just wanting a trip. Those are fun and I have been to several, but it has not done us a favor in a LONG, LONG, time. Especially next fall when we need WINS....:)

London, too cold and wet. Savannah is great and it would get a thumbs up from the wife. Vegas would depend on the number of games and the field. It’s the closest but once you’ve been to Vegas a few dozen times…well, you’ve been to Vegas a few dozen times and the appeal wears off.

Waivers are being given out like Halloween candy. They don’t want a lawsuit.
Really not much of a reason to reinstate the transfer rule if they rarely follow it. It's not really an exception if they give them out more than they don't.

With "super K" getting injured early in that Oregon St. game, we were left desperately short
of depth at center, and we had NO depth @ the PG position....When you combine that with
a general lack of defensive skill (and sadly, a lack of defensive effort from some of our
guards), we were not destined to win many games....

It looks like the almost total replacement of the roster is coming along well, but we obviously
need more work @ the center and PG positions....If our efforts there bear fruit, this coming
season can turn out to be a successful step toward relevance for this T.U. team...

I.I. (and the others who have expressed it) are right on in saying that the players (and the
coaches, really) need early wins this coming season to build confidence in themselves and in
each other.....It is hard to predict how a newly formed team will turn out, but it is obvious
that Konkol&Co. have gathered some key ingredients......

The time frame between now and this fall will be interesting and critical in determining where
this program is headed under Coach Konkol and his staff....They are almost starting at ZERO...

Good Luck!! :flags:

I can believe we are one day away from signing day. It feels like this day would never come. I am excited to see some of our JUCO targets finally make their college decisions.

Look, look, look...

For some reason JUCO commitments come in late and I have not heard anything on them. The PG and Bigs are a real need to finish out the list and maybe one more 3 point shooter.

Juco come in late because they are waiting for late offers. Or some coaches are waiting on grades to come in.

When I was in the biz, we flew a Juco kid out the first week of school. One way ticket. He was fully on board, but wasn’t committed. In his physical he was revealed he had a foot injury that he needed surgery to repair. Never saw him again.

My guess is that grades, and proper credits, are generally a big reason why there is a delay. Kids are generally at the JUCO for a reason. May be a late bloomer, but more often than not they didn't qualify, had issues at previous stop, or had something in their past that brought them there for a second chance. Everybody needs to do their due diligence on all recruits, but seems that with the JUCO guys a program really needs to do their homework in before making an offer commitable.

Until recent years JUCO was a way to get PT rather than sit out a year. Different now.
