So Kamala picks Biden's buddy. I had a feeling when they first started pushing Walz as friendly with Biden, that he might get the pick. When Kamala first started out expressing interest in each candidate, I felt like Governor Shapiro was the front runner. I guess being a folksy, Midwestern white guy, ex football coach, and teacher seemed safer.(Prairie home companion vibe?) In a regional state to the rust belt, I feel like it was a more balanced pick in contrast to her, than a Jewish governor from Pennsylvania.(even if Shapiro would have helped bring in a few more votes from his state) Somehow Walz is considered progressive & moderate? Those tags seem to be conflicting, but whatever.
He provides no in your face strong verbal support towards Israel or the Palestinians. I imagine not talking about Israel any more than she has to, is the direction Kamala wants her campaign to head towards. Getting the pro Palestine protestors to quiet this issue serves her better than it being in the news as for or against her position. That's too polarizing of an issue with moderates and the liberal wing of her party. The less it gets brought up, the better.
