Once you get certified, there are several online sites you can recertify with. I’m able to get my biannual professional rescuer that way even. Very handy
So I was able to get a few seats for the general public. We should have the links up soon. Anyone in Tulsa wanting to do the class, check out tulsacc.edu/ce and you can go to the web catalog.

I need to renew. I was certified for almost 20 years and got busy with life and haven’t re-certified.

Biggest difference is there are no more breaths involved in it. Just chest compressions. They say the rhythm should be the song "Staying Alive" by the Bee Gees and it's about 60 compressions per minute. It has been simplified a lot and the key, as it was back then, is hand placement for the compressions.

Many places have included training on an AED device as part of their certifications as well. When I first trained on an AED, the hardest part (and really it's not hard) is placement of the contact pads on the patient. The device tells you whether or not you should shock them.
In my opinion, everyone should have some basic first aid skills. I took my first CPR class when I was 16 (37 years ago) and thankfully have never had to use it, but would be prepared if needed. Likewise, I just renewed mine two weeks ago. The breaths were still involved, but it's now two breaths after 3 sets of 15 compressions. Two inch compressions are unchanged, and they completely skip measuring up from the base of the sternum and instruct to just locate at the center. The AED training was even simpler; the pads had illustrations of where to put them clearly printed. Likewise the units that were at my previous job were marked the same way.

Just sign up for a class and take a few hours out of a day or evening for peace of mind. I would say the same about donating blood.

They may have added rescue breathing back in but before I retired I had to recertify every two years and the last two times (‘14 and ‘16) there were no breaths. I obviously know how to perform CPR but I found out in ‘16 that I no longer have the strength and stamina to actually do it.
