Opening games

So I am putting my spreadhseet together for the upcoming season so this is where I am getting some of these random things. Mississippi Valley State plays 15 of its first 16 games away from their court. Unlike Detroit Mercy and Oral Roberts, These guys are playing a couple of heavy hitters and some good teams. They start with Baylor. They also play TCU, Tulane, Wichita State, Tulsa, Colorado State, Missouri and they are also in the Rainbow Classic in Hawaii.
Damn, that's a terrible schedule, bordering on abuse, to their student athletes. Won't be much student(ing) going on during this stretch.

That is rough. Do teams get pay days for going on the road and playing a schedule like this, sort of like G5s going to P5s in football? I mean, why else would you play a schedule like that unless the coach really thinks playing all those games against teams in the top 100 will give them a leg up when they get to conference play.

They have to be getting paid well for this. That is a lot of travel for a school to get their teeth kicked in for two months. but hey if they are actually good (probably not) this could be a massive boost in the NET.

Yes - it’s how they fund their program.

We did play them in Portland 7 years ago. I am sure that wasn’t part of the deal.

we have played them 3 times. This year will be number 4

December 19, 2015 in portland 76-71 OSU
November 22, 2016 in Tulsa 75-64 Tulsa
November 15, 2021 in Tulsa 64-58 Tulsa
November 7, 2022 in Corvallis

these look like two separate contracts
You’re right, my mistake. It was 2 separate home-and-homes and they just happened to move that first one to the Moda Center for the Far West Classic.

So here are the Exhibition games that I know of from the schedules. IF you are interested in viewing or listening then I suggest visiting their website. I only see one for ESPN+. There might be more but now you know.

That's what I was trying to figure out. Some of those SWAC schools are dirt poor and don't get the same proportion of funding as their flagship state schools or even the regional state schools.
There are quite a few schools in low major conferences who have to operate this way in order to keep their program running. Almost all of their non conference games are on the road where they just get pummeled (but get a nice check). The 1-2 non conference games they do have at home are typically D2 (or lower) level competition - similar to what ORU does with some of the schools they bring in to play at the Mabee Center.

Didnt we also play them in Las Vegas a few years back?

YOOOOO!!!! RIGHT!!! The game starts at midnight my time. When I go to ESPN it shows the game on Tuesday instead of Monday. I might have to miss it because I have to get sleep before I go working at the polling center for the mid terms. I have to be there at 4:30 am. Game will finish about an hour before I get up to go.
Idk what time you get off work , but you could go to bed as soon as you get home, wake up and watch the game , then head to work ! 😂

That thought has been brewing. But will it come to Fruition? I might have to see if the PAC 12 has replay. If so then I will just watch it on there when I get to my Polling place.

Alright it's time for us to get to work. We have a fellow fan in need of day sleep. Who has blackout curtains? Who wants to be on phone detail (silence the phone when a call comes in)? Who wants to stand by the front door with a waterhose and spray any person coming close to knocking? We will protect one of our own while he sleeps so he can enjoy the night game!!

Sometimes I have to do that with my work schedule ( have to be up at 3 am at times if we have a customer emergency) not the funnest thing ever , but I make it work . Would be more enjoyable to do that for a TU game then work though !

Oregon State’s starters in yesterday’s exhibition win were 6-2, 6-5, 6-6, 6-9, 7-2. With the freshman at PG. Would hope we push the pace early and turn them over because we’ll be significantly undersized no matter what lineup we go with.

Just checked my pac 12 network on Dish and it lists the FAMU vs Oregon game at 7 but not the Tulsa vs OSU game at 9. I hope it’s gets added soon or I may be out in the cold.

Still not seeing a line on the game
I am plotting a late aftenoon nap to see or at listen to Bruce.

ESPN is showing Tulane by 7.5
Though this should be on the FB board, I'll comment that this seems a low considering our performance over the last four games. As much as I'd like to see our guys win every game, this one included, I'd take Tulane to cover if I was a betting man.

Tulane is going to absolutely STOMP a hole in us. Our players don't care anymore, as evidenced by the constant dicking around on the sideline, laughing, etc. Monty is dead man walking in coach speak.

I stopped sleeping around a bunch of guys when I left the service. Thats a hard pass for me. lol
Reminds me of sleep overs with my buddies when I was a kid on Friday nights:

Pizza, cool ranch Doritos, Surge, Nintendo, and trying to sneak in some skin-a-max without my parents noticing haha

Over/ Under on the number of fans on the message board game thread?

I don’t know, but they did beat the h3ll out of East West U (I’m not kidding they played a game against a school with this name).

Only two more Exhibition games left before the regular season starts. Both the Mens and Womens programs start play on Monday. The Women host Alcorn State at the Reynolds Center at 6:30 p.m. This game will also be on ESPN+. The Men travel to Corvallis, Oregon to take on Oregon State at 11 p.m.
