ITS GAMEDAY!!!!! Today the Tulsa men take on the Pokes from OSU at the Reynolds Center. The NET has not been very Kind to Tulsa as we sit at the bottom of the American. Big chances for us to go up with a win tonite with OSU at a NET 128.

Yesterday ECU and UTSA took big hits in the NET. ECU lost to UNC Wilmington 67-53 at home. UTSA lost on the road at Saint Mary’s 82-74.

I would like to report that I am now over my illness and doing alright except for my vocal cords that are still damaged from all of the coughing. This is also my first post with the NEW NET for 2024-2025. The story of the league at the moment is Memphis starting this week ranked after they had a very successful trip to Hawaii knocking off UCONN and Michigan State before losing to Auburn in the finals. They come in Ranked 16.

Should be a good game tonight. This is probably the least talented OSU team in at least a decade. New coach seems to be legit. OSU will play aggressive defense and fast paced offense. Game comes down to who hits their 3s imo.

Still probably enough to beat Tulsa. We lost by 36 recently to Chicago Loyola, 14 to UALR and 3 to Ga St. OSU does have one of the most experienced D1 teams in the nation with their top 8 scorers consisting of 2 5th year seniors, 4 seniors and 2 juniors and has a much better rebounding team than TU.

Tulsa is still weak inside without Garcia and I’m beginning to think we’re not going to see him this year. Unless TU shoots lights out, OSU will win IMO. We’ve played weak competition and are 4-4. I hope we can find something out soon or it’s going to be another long year.

TU has zero chance tonight and I think we will struggle to win more than 11-12 games. Moore needs to clean this mess up after this season as well.

Yesterday was a let down. They came out looking pretty good and then turnovers plagued our game. If we didn’t have all of the turnovers we would have been in that game more. Maybe missing Garcia is what is hurting us. I don’t know. Some are blaming the coaches but the players have to execute the plays. Today we have Purdue Fort Wayne at Detroit Mercy and The women host Grambling this morning.

We did not hit the 300 mark yet but we are very close at 298 and we played like 298 last night. We have 4 Non Conference Games Left. Southern U (175 NET), Mississippi Valley (364 NET), SW Christian (NAIA) and UCF (86 NET) Two of these games have upside to really raise the NET. All of these are at the Reynolds Center except UCF which is in Sunrise Florida. We do not have the record or schedule for us to get an at large so that is absolutely out. The only way we see post season is through the conference tournament and we have 3 months to get our lineups where they need to be and hopefully get Garcia back, healthy and ready to make a difference.

As much as I enjoy these posts...unfortunately with the state of our team I've found myself completely disinterested in college basketball as a whole. I tried watching the Duke-Auburn game last night...couldn't watch for more than 5 minutes. Same with the Kansas and Creighton game and Oregon and USC.

Women's basketball is not much better.

Garcia is absolutely not going to solve our problems. Our offensive sets are OFFENSIVE...how many times did we let OSU push us out near midcourt only to have to rush a possession with 7-9 seconds left on the shot clock. It's abysmal and I wouldn't be shocked if the players pack it in.

This is not a players problem. It’s a recruiting problem (we recruited bad players) and a rotation / game management problem.

X’s and O’s are also really poor. We’re just not running good sets.

I would even take it a step further. It’s not being able to field a complete roster which can play complementary basketball which executes the style of ball the coach wants to play. This team is missing so many key pieces which is magnified when the coach seems to lack an identity as to style of play

Finally, someone who recognizes the serious problem we have. But it's not so many key pieces. It's one, or two at most two.

Yesterday Detroit Mercy edged out Purdue Fort Wayne 79-78. The Tulsa Women also blasted Grambling 77-60. This gave TU a good boost from 257-239 in the NET.

Today we have a small slate of games. The men play tomorrow.
