It’s football season. We’ve got bigger things to complain about. And apparently there is total apathy

I'd say football and basketball are equally bad.Konkol should resign if he has any pride
80-45 with 5 minutes
Worse performance than the football team
Konkol's offensive scheme has been mediocre for years now. It doesn't generate good looks. Honestly, Haith's offense was better. I think we have decent players at this juncture, but they're not being put into positions to succeed. Everything devolves into an isolated dribble drive to the basket. No meaningful screening, few cuts. Poor rebounding. The Loyola announcers can’t believe how horrible the TU offense is
At this point I wonder about the team’s mental framework
Loyola is in my view mediocre
Up 20 with.15
This team is disappointing not well coached
And Jared Garcia if he ever returns will not change that
If the season plays out as I expect I’ll skip the last month and hope Konkol is canned
They were equal, neither looked better.Haith's offense was better.
So does the defenseNo offense sets to get open shots. Every shot is contested. That is not the sign of great coaching. Turnovers the past two games is indicative of something else. Hopefully beating some lesser teams will help stabilize things. But the offense has to change.
7 games (including the exhibition game) is a large enough sample size to understand what we have.
It’s pretty obvious that we were overzealous about the ORU win. They aren’t good at all this year.
We’ve played 3 average to decent mid-majors…and are 0-3.
This roster is broken…again. Not quite as bad as Konkol’s year 1…but worse than year 2.
I think these guards would be pretty good individually on other good teams, but collectively, they’re not long or skilled enough to overcome our inside deficiencies.
But…the massive issue is the glaring void of any discernible talent at the 4 and 5 positions.
It is a disservice to Haith to compare. Listen, it was the right time to move on but he got us a tourney bid in ‘16 and won the conference in ‘19. He had impressive ranked wins like beating down a ranked Memphis by 40, beating a ranked K State in the Reynolds CenterThey were equal, neither looked better.
First of all there are side notes to most of the things you cited. But more importantly, I am not saying Haith & Konkol's coaching career is any lesser or greater. I am saying most specifically, that their offensive systems both look the same. Large doses of street ball. That is true. So I disagree. It is a disservice to Haith to compare. He shouldn’t even be compared to Konkol.
It’s kind of hard to get an assist when you shoot 28.3% from the field and only make 17 field goals. Loyola would have still had 10 more assists than us even if we made all of our field goal attempts. One of the crazier stats from yesterday’s game. Loyola had 27 assists. We had 7.
Especially when the offense is heavily focused on 3s and you only make 2 in 22 attempts. It’s kind of hard to get an assist when you shoot 28.3% from the field and only make 17 field goals. Loyola would have still had 10 more assists than us even if we made all of our field goal attempts.
Smikle started.Especially when the offense is heavily focused on 3s and you only make 2 in 22 attempts.
Lots of bad in the game. The only positive, and it’s a stretch because it’s heavily impacted by our poor shooting, is we won the offensive rebounding and total rebounding.
Again, I was comparing their offensive systems not their recruiting.I wasn’t a Haith fan, but his teams were far more talented than Konkol’s so far.
He signed the 4 position about as well as any coach we’ve had.
I will repeat it again, I was comparing his offensive s y s t e m, to Haith's, and you have not yet realized that.Let’s compare Haith’s record the first few years. Or maybe the fact in his second year he made the NCAA tourney?
Let’s not get overzealous there. He took an NCAA tournament caliber team and turned them into an NIT / play in caliber team….Let’s compare Haith’s record the first few years. Or maybe the fact in his second year he made the NCAA tourney?
That team under Manning was not making the tourney. Certainly an incredibly talented team but let’s not act like Manning was a great coach. There’s a reason he’s flamed out of as a HC.Let’s not get overzealous there. He took an NCAA tournament caliber team and turned them into an NIT / play in caliber team….
Man, I didn't know we had a Haith lover on the board. I'll leave you two to Duke it out over whether Haith or Manning was better. That team under Manning was not making the tourney. Not one of those players took us to an ncaa tournament.Etou was also a 4. Rachal was a 3/4…and was a stud.
I would love for Konkol (or TU) to procure an Etou, Rachal, Horne, or Igbanu. Just one to start would be great.
