Los Lobos Game Thread

We are getting smoked in recruiting by almost everyone in our
conference. But if you suggest this, which is obvious, you get
attacked by the same half dozen fans that think they know better
than everyone else. Recruiting will continue to be a hard sale
with empty seats. Not ever going to get much better with
3,000 students who will never live here.

So did Blankenship do a better job with recruting than Monty?
So far YES . Dane, Keevan, the offensive line,Jeremy Smith, Jesse, Petera, etc....all Bill's recruits. Monty is going to stick with Chad, so hopefully he can be a winning quarterback his junior and senior seasons. Chad is a good athlete , however there's alot of work left on his plate in becoming a complete QB for the hurricane. He has got to get more zip on the ball on intermediate routes and put more air on the long throws. After watching OU vs Baylor last night. no way would he beat out Baylor's Zach Smith at QB.

2 games, 2 seconds,2 field goals, 2 losses, 2 screwed up for words!!! TU Football: 1st,last(in D),always!

Tough to tell at this point, but, it may be pointing that way.

Monty became too hot of a coaching prospect and it may have hurt recruiting. Well that and our graveyard of a stadium...

Whoever scheduled a noon game in September needs to be shot.

He’s met or exceeded expectations in the recruiting department in the player positions prioritized by the staff.

If there’s a problem with coaching decisions off the field, it’s which positions have been prioritized and what has happened with those players once they got here.

In all fairness, Dane looked pretty horrible his first year starting too. It was until Montgomery got here when he suddenly developed into a good qb. So there's hope, but it's just really tough to watch.

Danes early problems were from decision making. Not arm strength or accuracy. Dane threw a bunch of pick 6's which was why he got criticized. President seems to make decent decisions but does not appear to have the tools to be successful

Also, Dane forced a lot of balls into situations where he had no business passing. His competitiveness got the best of him and he thought his arm strength could make plays. There were a couple of established role players who simply could not catch the ball at the velocity he threw it at and that certainly didn’t help. We gone from a QB who couldn’t throw at all, to a QB who threw too hard, to a QB that can’t throw straight or hard.

Even as a freshman Dane had a cannon for a arm. He just didn't have the accuracy. Once Montgomery got to Tulsa, he started teaching Dane what he needed to get accuracy on down field throws. Made all the difference. Chad has neither the arm strength nor the accuracy. Navy can sit in the box on defense all night daring Tulsa to throw. With Chad in they can't. If Tulsa doesn't have a decent throwing game, they will rack up losses quickly in conference. Irregardless the Navy game will be blood bath for Tulsa.

President is NOT a QB. It is amazing that this coaching staff still thinks they can make this guy a qb. Arm strength is no better than a junior high kid and he has no clue how to go through progressions. Not fair to the team to keep trying. If I was Skipper, I would be wondering what is going on. Seems like Monty has his favorite to the detriment of the team. We make changes at other positions but President seems to be immune.
