Houston blasted Tulane by 30 last night.

With USF’s win over UCF last night there is a 5 way battle for the 5-10 seed in the tournament. WSU has the edge with 7 wins and only a couple games to go. This next week could really shake up the standings. Tulsa has secured the 11 seed and all of their tournament game whether 1 or more will be the late games each day.

What is the over under on TU fan attendance? I put it at 50. Mostly relatives of staff and players.

I will take the Under. I am only basing it off of the fan attendance at Myrtle Beach from Family and Relatives.

I thought I remembered Nikita playing in 3 or 4 games, but the stats say he only played in 2. I wonder if Nikita will play in the last game or two.

I don’t see it happening. He played in the Oregon State and then one of the early conference games but he wasn’t in very long. Urbancic has more court time this year than special K

At that point they decided to redshirt him, and were maintaining his redshirt status. He can play in two more games and maintain his redshirt status. We only have 3 games remaining.(2 regular season, 1 tourney) He could play in two out of the three games remaining and still redshirt for us or whoever he transfers to, if that happens. The two games could be a tryout to show what he has for us and/or a team to which he transfers. It is a possibility. Could be of benefit to us and/or him.

No games today. I have been unavailable due to work and child commitments the last couple days. So this will be my time to introduce the tournament. Both the Men’s and Women’s teams have two games left to end the regular season. The Women’s Tournament Starts on March 6 and ends on March 9. The Mens Tournament starts on March 9. The womens final will be at 9 p.m. after the Tulsa vs Whoever game. All games are played at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. They have a link on TheAmerican.org under “Championships” for the tournament but the tickets show currently not on sale. I am sure they will be for sale once the bracket is complete.

AND ONE

Northern Kentucky came from behind to edge out a surging Detroit Mercy team that has won 5 of the last seven. They are winning behind Antoine Davis who scored 27 last night but had scored at least 30 points in 6 straight games coming into that game with the Norse. They have one more regular season game against Wright State on Saturday. Davis currently sits at 3,570 points, which is 97 points behind Maravich. IF he scores at least 30 in the next three games then he has a shot at taking the title.

GO TU!!!

ORU dropped a spot after a 10+ point win on the road which emphasizes my point that they have no chance of an at large spot in the NCAA tournament.

They are on the bubble watch.
Reaching back into my deep memory, the only chance for a team to get an at large without good wins is to have pretty much zero bad losses. I don't follow ORU but if they have q3 and q4 losses they are likely screwed if it comes to that.

They have 4 losses. All of them are Q1 losses.

ITS GAMEDAY!!!

Tulsa Women are traveling to Houston today in one of their last two games. The season finale will be Wednesday at home against UCF.

Todays Games

Houston travels to East Carolina this afternoon and the SMU isin Tampa.
#14 Kansas State travels to Stoolwater to take on the pokes.
Oral Roberts tries to remain unbeaten in Summit play when they take on South Dakota State.

AND ONE

Bubble watch is alive and working. Houston is a lock and the only other team in the American that apparently has a shot is Memphis but they need help according to the bubble watch. ORU is on the list of teams that need help but what made me look sideways is that they have Florida Atlantic as not a lock? FAU is sitting at 19 on the NET and has lost three games. They have winning records in Q1 (2-1) and Q2 (3-2) and have not lost a Q3 or Q4 game. FAU should be a lock.

Detroit Mercy lost to Wright state in the final Regular Season game. Davis scored 34 in that game. He is now at 3,604 points. He is 63 away from tying the lead and 64 from taking the lead. Detroit Mercy will need to play at least 2 tournament games to give him a shot.

The Horizon Tournament starts Tuesday. Detroit Mercy is currently the 8 seed so they will definitely be playing on Tuesday.

I really hope he does not get it. No offense to him.

Well if I was him and reading what you wrote I would have been highly offended. lol. I mean really you cant show the man disrespect and then say no offense to make it better. lol

I remember Pistol Pete fondly when I was a kid. So I would say that about anyone nearing his record. Nothing personal.

It's okay for people to have different opinions about the validity of the record if it comes. It would be like giving someone 6 years to break Seals scoring record here. Davis getting two more years than Pete is like comparing apples to oranges.

They are two different eras. In the end if he gets the points then he will hold the record. All sports have evolved over time and the game now is not what it was then in any sport. We just have to roll with it. He has earned it so got to give it up to him.

ORU edged out South Dakota State on the road 69-65

Charlotte and Rice just started the second half and Charlotte is up by 10

He will end up with more points counted than Pete as they should definitely play two games since they will play at home against Purdue Fort Wayne who they have beaten easily twice. So give him the big trophy for him and daddy.

And Oklahoma State is who we should feel sorry for as they are crashing and burning trying to hang on to the bubble now after projected at 10 for a while.

Covid rule for a limited time period is not an evolution of college basketball.

You can keep saying that but getting extra years due to changes happen. It’s evolution of the game. Changes always occur because something happened or a changes is warranted because a change in something else. We will agree to disagree on this but the man is playing within the rules afforded to him. If he gets it, then he deserves it.

The only thing that this would be even slightly equivocal to, would be WWI & WWII. Except that those wars didn't give players extra games. It took players away from the game, but it did not give players extra games.

OSU is done. Avery Anderson’s season ending injury five games ago was simply a killer for the team.

Absolutely! In fact they should both have records...But just different ones.....The three point
line, the shot clock, freshmen eligibility, and the most recent (but temporary) Covid one for
the two or three year period it is in effect where you get six seasons to complete 5 seasons
of eligibility, have all increased a college athlete's ability to put up a larger career stat line
in basketball....

In reality, Pete's record cannot be broken because no one else will ever again play under
the limitations of those rules....That's regardless of whose name they list in the record
books....
