ITS GAME DAY!!!

Been gone the last couple of days due to my illness and work issues. I am back today! Tomorrow is another story. Lol.

Tonight, Tulsa visits Tulane in New Orleans. We are still looking for that first Conference win. Wichita State is also in action tonight and looking for their first conference win as well. Wichita State has also had two recent games postponed so they are in a better position than we are. So let see who is going to suck the least. Smh

On the Women’s side, Tulsa hosts Memphis at the Reynolds center. This is a team that they beat in the last few minutes of the game in Memphis. Hopefully they come out and put the tigers down early. This team is currently sitting in 6th place in the standings at 2-2.

And 1

Former player spotlight. Christian Shumate who plays for McNeese State is the second leading scorer on the team averaging 11.1 points per game on an average of 22 minutes of game time. He is a 51 percent shooter from the field and is 55 percent from the line. His 3 point percentage is at 16, pretty dismal. He is averaging 6.7 rebounds a game. 31 turnovers, 15 steals and 21 blocks for this season so far. McNeese is 8-12 so far this season.

TU women won last night. I don’t want to talk about the mens team as it is just too damn depressing.

Tulsa is now sitting in 5th place in the conference and have an 82 NET. This net is a rise of 3 spots after the win yesterday. The ladies still have a ways to go and will need to prove themselves as they are still not a top tier team even in this conference they are still not a top tier team. They are winning and in the end that is all that matters to me. They are in a much better place then they were with Mossman.

Wichita State won their first conference game last night edging out UCF in Wichita.

Loyola Chicago vs Southern Illinois is a rescheduling from a game postponed on January 2. These teams played at Loyola two days ago and play in Carbondale today. Loyola won the last meeting.

And 1

Former player spotlight. Ryan Gendron who is now with Northeastern State has only played in 10 games. His first game wasnt until December 11th and he only saw 4 minutes on the floor. As of late he has started playing in more game and is now up to 22 minutes of play time as of last game. His minutes do keep improving. He has only attempted 23 field goals and made 9 for 39 percent. 41 percent from 3 and 75 percent from the line. Don’t let the numbers fool you, he hasn’t taken that many shots on either of the stats. He is only a Sophomore so hopefully he will grow and do better.

Memphis and ECU played last night in Memphis and the Tigers got revenge on ECU for the loss they took in Greenville. That loss in Greenville was Memphis’s fault.

Three games today and all out of the AAC.

As we get ready to roll into February, it is time to start looking at positioning for the NCAA tournament. Unless something weird happens the only teams from what I track that have a shot at getting in without winning the conference tourney are as follows

Houston
SMU
Boise
North Texas
UAB

Bubble
Cincinnati

And 1

Former player spotlight. Austin Richie has played in all 20 games so far and started 3 games. He is only averaging 15.7 minutes a game. During that time he is 38 percent from the field, 36 percent from 3 on 80 attempts and an 87 percent free throw shooter. He has only attempted 8 Free Throws all season. His best game was last night where he played 17 minutes and in that span scored 18 points. He was 6-9 from the field, 4-7 from 3 and 2-2 from the line. Last time he was close to that productive was back on November 27th.
