Welcome to 2022!!! Thought this was going to get off to a great start but apparently Omicron said “Hold my beer”.
We have 10 games scheduled, 11 if you count the TU Women, and all of these but 5 are postponed or cancelled.
TU women had their game against Cincinnati postponed due to Covid within the Bearcat program.
For the Men
East Carolina and South Florida are postponed due to Health and Safety protocols on the ECU program.
Air Force and Fresno State are postponed due to Covid related concerns with Fresno State
Gonzaga vs LMU has been postponed ddue to COVID on the Gonzaga program
Oregon State and Colorado has been postponed due to COVID related issues with Colorado. Oregon State has rescheduled the game with Sacramento State that was supposed to be played on December 28th for Jan 3.
Georgia State vs Little Rock has been Canceled due to COVID within the Georgia State program. Now here is something of note, unlike the other conferences that are postponing games in conference, the Sun Belt had modified their policy to stat that a minimum threshold of seven (7) student-athletes plus one (1) coach required to play. Since Georgia State does not have that then the game is considered a “No Contest” and the game is canceled and not to be rescheduled.
We do have a couple of good games and one starts here shortly on CBS when Memphis travels to Wichita to face the shockers in the Roundhouse.
Boise State travels to Wyoming and that is on CBSSN
Tulane tries to continue to be spoiler, traveling to Cincinnati. I am being prepared for this to be canceled. Just have a feeling, I hope it is just gas.
And 1
So I went and counted them up. Including today there have been 215 Division 1 games that have either been Canceled or Postponed. From the Start of the Season through December 17th, there were a total of 20 games that were either Postponed or Cancelled. Those numbers are Postponed 11 and Cancelled 9.
From December 18th to the end of the year (yesterday evening) there were 64 games postponed and 89 games canceled in the matter of 14 days.
Today being the first day of the year we have 42 games affected. 30 games postponed and 12 games that have been cancelled. There are still games that are postponed or canceled right now through January 6th. They are not many but could very well be more as we move along.
