Trevor Knight led OU to a 8-4 season record and a 45-31 win over Alabama in the 2014 Sugar Bowl. Knight lost his starting QB position the next year to Baker Mayfield and transferred to Texas A&M where he became a starter. Mayfield took the sooners to a 11-2 record and the National Playoffs in 2015.
The redshirt year of Mason Rudolph was burned when OSU starting QB Walsh was injured and then second string QB Dax Garman was injured. Rudoph started his first game against Baylor and went 13/25 on passing with 281 yards. Rudolph led OSU to an overtime victory over OU in the final game of the season and over Washington U in the Cactus Bowl.
The generally accepted rule is that a starter does not lose their position because of an injury. But, IMO, if Tulsa is going to continue to have its magical season and if Tulsa is to attain heights not previously envisioned, Davis Brin is probably the QB that can take Tulsa there. It was not only his passing performance against Tulane that stood out but also his ability to scramble.
