I was surprised to read that the American voted against the proposal to drop the requirements of 12 members and 2 divisions to stage a championship game, requested by the Big 12. I though the AAC wanted to avoid further raids (Houston, Cinncy) by the Big 12. Why the ACC cared or the Pac 12 didn't vote also made no sense.
Then Boren issues a statement saying the Big 12 is disadvantaged - not only due to the championship game, but the number of members (uh oh) and most importantly, not having a conference network/shared revenue (a direct slam at Texas, while UT is weakened). I wonder if OU is planning to revisit the Pac 12 proposal, perhaps taking OSU, Tech and TCU. Any conference movement will hurt the American. I could easily see Tulsa moving to the Mountain West (which was strongly considered) or being left with some combination of CUSA-American after raids. Deja vu? I hope not.
