2024 Election prediction/discussion

Go away, god you are as bad as fking rippin/rip rep. Get your irritation out somewhere else. Go somewhere else for your extended tantrums. I'm also irritated, but you don't see me going off, like I have no control over my state of mind. You just answer to the voice in your head, irregardless of what anyone says or doesn't say.
Oh come off it man. I’m having fun. Trying to be light hearted about the stupidest people in America disproportionately voting for the worst candidate in US history and trying to steer us all right into an iceberg.

You aren't being light, you are being annoying. Your comprehension of light is something else. You post something you think is funny for 3 or 5 posts in a row, and whatever. But after the 13th post, let it go. You have been on this schtick for nearly 30 posts now. It got old around the second post.

Oh, I’m going to keep on it for quite a long time.

These people need the positive reinforcement to show themselves just how intelligent their opinions really are. They deserve to hear their brilliant thoughts being praised and being fedback and turned up to 11. I know that’s what they really want to hear anyway. I am going to agree with them until the cows come home….

Everyone loves the sound of their own voice after all…

Are they going to tell me to stop being so agreeable?

Trying to get away from Aston’s unhinged tantrums and get this thread back on track. Trump won both Florida and Texas by 13 plus points. Why….Hispanics in increasing numbers are voting with the GOP. Do the Dems dial back some of their more extreme social positions in an attempt to get those voters to return to the Dems? I’ve seen multiple hosts on MSNBC suggest as much. Food for thought…beginning in 2032 a candidate will only need to carry the swing states of Ga, Nc, Zona and Nevada to win the presidency. The blue wall will be out of the equation.

Unfortunately, I believe it’s becoming harder and harder for moderates to win the nomination for either party.
The bottom line is you can’t win without money and center voters typically do not donate. And they rarely drive clicks.

The epitaph of Harris may very well read: Raised more faster and spent it quicker than any other candidate before her. Wasted almost a billion of that funding on messaging that persuaded no one.

The uncovered story in this election is how the Democratic platform supposedly says they want to end Republican dark money campaigns but more than half of all the money Harris personally raised came out of four or five PACs whose leadership and fund sources are anonymous. But that scam is its own thread.

Thats what made Barack Obama a unicorn. He was an ultra hard left candidate with enough charisma and earned media backing to appear both centrist and pragmatic. So he could collect small donations in droves. She simply didn’t have it, knew it, and didn’t try. We will likely see more of the same.

It is only a matter of time before Oklahomans vote on this. It will pass IMO and transform state politics much as it has done for Tulsa and OKC city politics.

I doubt it. The republican party won't let democrats or independents vote in their primaries and will fight this hard. Whereas the democrats don't mind if the independents want to vote in their primaries. The republicans will fight this with a passion. Seeing as how Republicans are massively the majority in this state, it probably won't pass if it ever came up for a vote.(which it probably never will, seeing as how said republican politicians won't even entertain the thought of putting it to the people.)

I am an optimist at heart.

Fastest growing political registration in OK is unaffiliated. Unaffiliated plus Democrat make up about 45% of the electorate.

Nonpartisan elections already happen in OKC and Tulsa by referendum.

BTW we would still have Stitt under such a system but not a weirdo like Ryan Walters.

Second fastest ? Based on registration it appears Oklahoma Dems are a dying party. I would expect independents to overtake them in the next five to ten years.

What’s unhinged about praising our shining beacon of fascismo? He convinced the Hispanics, the Jews, the African Americans! He has the most wonderful message! Everyone is getting on board with the new party!

This isn’t your grand daddy’s fascism. No sir.
This is different for…reasons!

I wonder what percent of these people who are registering independent would have registered Dem 20-30 years ago?
Good point. So I haven’t done politics in Oklahoma for money, fun or the love of a neurotic woman since 1998.

So my numbers are fuzzy. But basically Oklahoma was 80/18/2 in favor of Dems from the New Deal until 1980. As demographics shifted and the World War II generation died off, that has slowly shifted away from Dems.

From 1980 through 2000, a fair portion of Republican voters in Oklahoma registered as NPA for social reasons. In short, your boss was a Dem. It very often had nothing to do with politics. You simply couldn’t call yourself a Republican in public and keep your job or have folks greet you after church.

It wasn’t until Donald Trump was in the primary in 2016 that Republicans became the majority party in Oklahoma by registration. Yet, independent voters have steadily grown, cutting further into what was once a supermajority for the Dems.

My sense is that those numbers are largely based on voter dissatisfaction with both sides, not one side.

As Oklahomans become dissatisfied with the extremes on both sides, you wonder if NPA will be the unofficial unorganized party of the center. And if that is a harbinger for the nation.

And also a sizeable number of public servants and military personnel who for official or unofficial policy reasons are registering as NPA for convenience.

Republican raw number continue to grow and have the highest increase.

Unaffiliated have the highest rate of growth if you ignore the tiny Libertarian registration.

Democrats are adding voters but at a pathetic rate of growth.

Question will be whether we are heading to Repiblican plurality versus majority anytime foreseeable. Maybe. Maybe not.

It’s been awhile since the Republicans funded cross party registration efforts. With these results, you wonder if that will happen and further expand their numbers.

I just don't know. Suspect there is also a growing rural versus urban divide in the state, though I've not looked at the numbers. I'd not be shocked if the cities proper of OKC and Tulsa were very competitive in the presidential election, based on how they vote in mayoral contests. But again - I am not studied in politics.

Agree. Looking at Tulsa County which has very few areas I would consider rural, Trump won by 15% compared to 34% statewide. I believe parts of the OKC area were even closer than that.

On a different note, how in 2024 can California only have 58% of the vote counted 3 days after the election? It takes Florida 3 hours to count 98%.

Agreed. How could anyone in the center of the aisle appreciate anyone who got some of the most conservative members of Congress / politics like the Cheneys to support them? It was a no-good liberal trick. Glad you didn’t fall for it.
Cant believe Aston is singing the praises of the Neo-Cons.

Dems let independents vote in their primaries because Oklahoma Independents are basically Dems that want to remain anonymous..

The only way your boss or the people at church would know your party, would be if you told them. Independents were a little bit up or down from 10% from the years 1980=2016. The republicans have been better at getting voters to the polls which accounts for us voting in republican Presidents.

One of my hard and fast rules in my company is political talk is prohibited. Our work force is probably 60-40 Pub if I were to guess

15.2% lead in Tulsa county for Trump, 1.7% lead in OKC. Much more liberal in OKC.

Bonus vote: 1.1% for Kennedy in both Tulsa & OKC

How can you vote for a bigger nut job than Trump? If he was a sort of ok candidate in comparison, that's one thing...
Just a protest vote resulting from having Harris and Trump as the candidates. I don’t disagree with you regarding RFK.

Differences in philosophy.

After 2000, Florida received considerable federal funding related to vote tabulation and improving the efficiency of voting. A two hour line to vote in Philly is a hassle. In Miami heat, with all its retirees, it literally kills people. Used to happen all the time. And still does sparingly.

So Florida has scanning technology that is the best in the country and legal infrastructure to support it. So lines are short.

People want to vote in person because it takes less than five minutes and there’s plenty of early voting locations.

California emphasizes a variety of methods to vote with the philosophy of the more options to vote, the more people will vote.

Because of infrastructure issues in CA like poor parking and extended commutes to and from work, CA voting by mail has increased rapidly the last thirty years and the laws and tech haven’t kept up.

For instance, unlike other states, Florida can process received mail in ballots as they arrive. They just can’t tabulate them. They can do all the things you need to do to verify that the vote should be counted, load it into the machine, and scan it. They just can’t tabulate. CA cannot do any of that. They start from scratch on election night and still count by hand in some smaller jurisdictions.

Florida law requires every mailed ballot arrive by the cob on Election Day regardless of when postmarked. CA requires it to be post marked by election day. Which means they must wait at least five days and sometimes longer if the post office tells them, to be certain every vote has arrived.

Mail in ballots hand delivered on Election Day, which is common, can’t be counted until the end of the day. And again, not every county has Florida’s scan technology so it can take days for CA officials to profile such a massive rush of mail in ballots, count them and certify the results.

I could go on.

Dang , you kind of lost your :crap: didn’t you ? 😂

City not County.

That is my question. Of course the two things equate a lot better in okc due to its huge land mass.

It’s really hard for me to take anyone seriously who thought the vegetable , Joe Biden , was a great president, that guy was an embarrassment to all Americans , Republicans and Democrats
Three great Biden sins.

1. The second stimulus
2. Abandoning Afghanistan
3. Insisting to run for reelection

I have several other venial sins I will leave out.
