2022 transfer portal

By the way, Elkamil committed to Southeast Missouri a couple of days ago.

I think Haywood will end up at UCO. Edit: It looks like he already committed there after reading his twitter timeline.
Well the portal doesn’t show that yet. I saw the posts from Haywood but nothing committing

Well if you click on Gavin’s name it shows he has a verbal commitment but hasn’t committed

From what I know of it, that's all it will show until he shows up on campus. I don't believe their is binding agreement until he actually enrolls as a transfer. It isn't the same thing as with freshman and signing an LOI.

I thought there was a May 1 deadline? I may be thinking of something else.

May 1 is the deadline for entering the portal but nothing is set in stone as far as destination until the athlete enrolls in school which in most cases will be in June.

At first glance, I was completed shocked that another Division I school picked him up. After some research, I believe UCO stands for the University of Central Oklahoma, which is a DII school. I think he is far better suited for a DII than DI school.

former no. 1 Memphis recruit Bates in portal.
There will be a lot of good teams stay far away from him since Memphis found they could not win with him on the court. a 5 star that no one wants would be cool.

Hot off the twitter feed
Hope he enjoys exciting Cape Girardeau. My father in law is going to hold this over my head that a Tulsa player would transfer to "Cape". Both my in laws went to SEMO, which they refer to as "Cape" . Never fails that if TU is losing a game on TV, my wife and I get texts about "What's wrong with Tulsa". He also constantly brings up the Gus Frerotte rammed his head into the wall and knocked himself out moment. It's been 20+ years since that happened.

Steele Gaston Chapman has hit the portal. Wonder if they will try to have the brothers on the same team?

Who can ever forget the Redskin Ram

Wow, the WSU coach may be lucky to get to the start of next season. But, see Iowa State, that went from 2 wins to the Elite Eight (maybe Sweet Sixteen?) this year. The Portal can change coaching careers for good or bad.

Obanor back to Texas Tech for his 7th year. Ties Horne last year from Tulsa and Kendrick Davis , now at Memphis for the "are they really still eligible?" category.

One Week left to be able to enter the Transfer Portal. Currently there are 1,457 in the portal.

Transferring out as of 4/22/22

One week left for 1,2, or 3 of our players to make a last minute portal move. I think some of them might be more inclined if we had already filled one or two slots on our roster. Doesn't seem like that's going to happen in time to give them more impetus. Guessing they will all be around next season.

So if KES and Early don’t hit the portal and get recruited over than they will have a problem.

How is this not killing the sport?
I suspect it will be modified this summer. Too many coaches are upset with the instant portal, surprisingly even many of the larger schools as well as most all of the smaller ones. A lot of the coaches feel they are putting in twice as many hours recruiting now as three years ago with uncertain results causing job insecurity.

I look at it this way. If they will allow them to go to the NBA after one year, then they can allow the student athlete to transfer 1 time for free. After that they have to sit a year. Like buyers remorse. Lol

Guaranteed Haith didn't feel that way.
How could he?

Well, however you look at it, the original school, whether we're talking fr. or JUCO
recruits bears the brunt of player development with no assurance of any dividend
for doing so....

The NBA rule and the "one time for free" transfer rule have nothing to do with each other....The one year out of HS in declaring for the draft rule is to allow young men
to grow up a little, both physically and emotionally before taking on the rigors of
the NBA.....The one time free transfer rule in the portal is to allow young men to
find a better college home for their particular skill set.....

Keylan Boone just tweeted out he has committed to University of the Pacific. Guess if he can't play for Gonzaga, he can at least plan on playing against them 2X a year. Guess he also doesn't realize that U of Pacific is not Pepperdine and is not sunny Malibu...and it's not even really close to a beach.
