Where should we go from here?

I say this with proverbial tears behind my blue and gold glasses (lol), but where is there for us to go?

I don't want to see us left behind like we almost were during the C-USA/Big East debacle in the early 2010's. I also would detest the day we go to FCS level.

I just want to see what everyone is thinking as far as coaching, NIL, current roster, the portal, and recruiting. I still think we are years away from having to worry about throwing in the old towel. But things like today haven't happened since the turn of the millennium. It's embarrassing, but I believe it's fixable with the right staff and allocations.

It's not just us. OU and OSU are arguably having their worst seasons since 1998. Ironically, we beat OSU that year and they beat OU. This year could mark the first time since 1998 that none of the OK 3 FBS teams make a bowl.

FC Tulsa

I have started watching them on TV recently due to the lack of other interesting sports and programming in the summer.

It has been interesting to see them transform their team mid-season and find their way to a four game win streak. It has been a case study in how little possession means in this game and how much a few tough, fast players who can time their runs well can have an oversized impact. That and a good GK on one end and a striker with a nose for goal on the other are truly golden. Much better results than they were getting with their more stylistic predecessors.

TU TV Promotion

During the Temple game the TU promotional video was shown. It was the same except one or two of the students were different. Struck me as interesting to why? Usually after a couple of years we go with a different video and students so why not this time? Also we were showing the other students as recently as two weeks ago. Did they graduate, enter the transfer portal, demand NIL money, go on academic probation, …..? When the game goes as poorly as they have been then I start paying attention to other aspects of the broadcast.

Tulsa at Temple Game Thoughts

Poor game plan. Make up your mind at QB. Offensive line is weakest part of the team. They cannot protect the QB. Defense gave up some big plays but 20 points and we should win. Still think the DC is over his head. Part of Temple’s game plan was to hold our WRs which they did in the first half without getting called. Time for a change.

What Would You Do?

No comparison to our situation, just looking for reaction to a Coaching record and how you would respond if you were the AD. How long would you stick with a coach with the following record?
Year 1. 2-9
Year 2. 3-8
Year 3. 6-5
Year 4. 6-5
Year 5. 5-6
Year 6. 2-9
Would you dismiss after year 2, 3, ….?

📝 Larry Lewis Game Preview: TU needs to show major improvement against Temple

There are usually games in the season where a team can't afford to lose. This game for Tulsa against Temple is one of them. If Tulsa (2-4, 0-2 AAC) is going to have any realistic chance of at least being a .500 team and going to a bowl, winning at Temple Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field is essential.

🏈 News/Notes TU Football Notebook: Tulsa at Temple

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane and the Temple Owls meet Saturday in college football action from Lincoln Financial Field. Here’s a Temple vs Tulsa prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Temple vs Tulsa pick.

Tulsa Golden Hurricane Betting Preview

Tulsa kicked off the year with a 62-28 blowout win over Northwestern State, then lost 28-24 to Arkansas State and 45-10 versus Oklahoma State in the next pair. The Hurricane beat Louisiana Tech 23-20 in overtime then lost to North Texas 52-20 in a blowout.

Tulsa’s latest outing was another loss, this time to Army. The Hurricane gave up 35 points across the second and third quarters for a 49-7 blowout defeat. QB Kirk Francis threw for just 84 yards, and Cooper Legas rushed 17 times for 81 yards and a score to lead the rush.

Temple Owls Betting Preview

Over on the Temple side, they got off to an 0-3 start this year, stumbling out of the gate. The Owls were beaten by Oklahoma 51-3, Navy 38-11 and Coastal Carolina 28-20 before a 45-29 win over Utah State. Game five was another loss, this time 42-14 to Army.

In the UConn matchup back on October 5, the Owls were down 16-13 going into the fourth quarter and ended up losing 29-20. Forrest Brock posted 136 yards with an interception. Terre Worthy carried 12 times for 95 yards, and Dante Wright caught eight balls for 67 yards.

Temple vs Tulsa Prediction

I’ll lean toward Tulsa I suppose. The Hurricane had some trouble against a good Army team in their last outing, giving up 481 total yards (321 rushing) and 10.5 yards per play. Tulsa posted just 268 yards (109 passing) and 3.7 yards per play on the other side. That makes 24 or fewer points in five straight games.

As for Temple, they had eight penalties, three turnovers, 270 yards (136 passing) and 16 first downs in a pretty limp effort versus UConn in their last game. The Owls defense was pretty good though, and kept the team in the game. I like Tulsa slightly better cover/win-wise in this matchup, but you could make a case either way.
