Youth soccer club

Let’s all be nice to each other. We should all be TU fans at heart. Let’s hope for what’s best for the kids of Tulsa no matter what clubs they play for. TSC was great for my son. Leo was great. Other clubs have good coaches. Yes, it’s a money source for some but some do it for the kids. Let’s all try to take the high ground and hope everyone’s heart is in the right place. I can promise you the golf instructor’s pocket book is in the right place……

The Fintube facility area would work fine for suburbanite soccer families. No marauding gang members hitting the streets around there.

Wow. Greenwood and BASC strategic partnership? I didn't see that one coming.
They need the facilities for training and games. And BASC has the best grass fields available as well as 4 full size turf fields. And TSC is one of the largest rec programs in the area and you can bet JM and Nsien are going to pull the better players over. It will be interesting to see how the BA Express kids are treated and evaluated. Many of those kids are quality players and you probably have an ECNL/MLS Next kid in the mix there but they play in BA because the per month costs to the parents are kept low. TSC used to have this partnership and Barry tanked it for some reason. It was even originally billed as a pipeline to competitive soccer for the BASC rec kids. Heck Tina was out there one year doing a clinic for girls who wanted to try...my daughter went out there. She was 6. And then we figured out she had no desire to play soccer, but she was all about the pink soccer ball, the pink cleats, the pink shinguards. My daughter was all about soccer fashion 😆 😆 😆 😆 . That was hosted out at BASC. JM did a couple clinics out there for the rec kids. I know it was all about ID'ing kids to get into the TSC pipeline at a younger age.

Speaking of TSC, I am doing 6 games this weekend for the TSC tournament. I'm doing 2 HS games tonight in Cleveland. And I'm currently sitting in the Nashville airport. I hope my legs make it

Seems like Case is 30 minutes from just about everywhere. It’s not an awful drive. People in Tulsa are spoiled
You god damn right we are.

I live in Jenks. I get a chuckle reading our local bitching boards about the “traffic” uh yeah. Get real. You people know nothing. This city has a handful of places with traffic.

169 and BA at 5pm.
Owasso heading north on 169 at 5pm
Glenpool i75

I think the exits on 71st and 169 and memorial and creek have improved dramatically from their traffic heights since they fixed up those exits and entrances.

Other than that, there really isn't much.

The 71st and riverside is just kind of slow. Like 5 mins. That isn't real traffic. There are just lots of cars.

From where I live, BASC and Indian springs are equally as long to get to.

So TSC is really only going to have RL Frontier?

That's what I heard. No GA, obv no NL. No RL TX. Just RL Frontier.

Also: I’m told that a TSC girls coach had all the girls circle up and asked them if they were training else where and at which clubs.
The girls should have gathered the TSC girls coaches together and asked them how many of you have reached out to other clubs about coaching positions and which clubs have you specifically contacted. I assure you hands would go up. Cyp and Nathan both know their NL players are gone. Not sure what the point is of putting them on the spot

Weird. I agree. That is awkward. Not really sure what that accomplishes.

I saw Barry several times this weekend...he actually looked defeated.

Several referees commented on how small the TSC tournament was this year...especially the older age groups which used to draw 200 hundred teams from 7-8 different states. At best I saw a few times from Arkansas, a few from Missouri, some from the KC area, and a handful from TX. Most teams were pretty local (2 hr drives or less, so OKC, NW Arkansas and a ton of Tulsa area teams). The quality of teams wasn't terrible. My daughter had the whistle for a U8 4v4 game and the two teams were pretty darn good for that age and she had to make a few foul calls. (She did great BTW and there weren't any audible grumblings).

1 U16 match I was watching had 10 yellow cards and 1 Red Card. I saw 4-5 of the YCs issued, all legit.

I didn't have to issue any cards...it would suck to have to flash one to a 9 year old 😆

That sucks because TSC has the best tournaments in Tulsa by miles. It is terrible these are being diminished because of the state they are in.

Go look at the lineup for next weekend at WSA Cup they might have 3 teams from out of state and maybe 10 that aren't local and another 10 that aren't WSA.

I watched the 2nd half of the Girls 2013's game against Energy (#1 Energy and #2 TSC) TSC controlled the game and won 3-1. I heard the tournament was up 15-20 teams ( I didn't count). Place was packed. I've never seen people parked on the East side of Elwood before and I live only a mile from there.

There were 56 girls teams entered. No idea on the boys side.

Entering as TSC 2013 Pre-ECNL made me chuckle btw

The complex was packed but remember that this tournament usually split between Scheel's and Mohawk with the showcase teams (U15-19) being exclusively at Mohawk and the younger groups being at Scheel's). All teams were at Scheel's this time around. and there were far fewer of the older age group teams than in the past and more younger teams. The 2 TSC tournaments were among the premier regional events in this area. A lot of the teams that used to travel from KC, StL, TN, and the Austin/Houston areas no longer come because of the cancellation last Spring after 3 drops of rain fell. A lot of referees who travel to the tournament stopped doing so, and in my conversations with other refs yesterday, there's probably a lot of local referees who won't do it anymore, many citing lack of support from TSC higher ups (i.e. not enforcing red card suspensions for coaches...I was AR on a U19 game and the coach from the team from Arkansas received a RC on Saturday, known because the other AR had centered that game and issued the RC; and the ref was told it was fine that he was on the sideline....and he kept on bitching the entire game too despite the fact his team got thoroughly outplayed and gave up on the game about 60 minutes in).

Plus quite a few referees showed up for their scheduled games only to be told those games no longer existed on the TSC schedule but TSC didn't bother to give the assigners an updated schedule so it was still on the referees' schedules. I had one of those and I was pretty pissed that they wasted my time with it.

Remember just a few years ago TSC had between 400-500 teams for its Spring tournament.
TSC advertises over 300 teams attend. No chance they got close to that number this year with 56 total on the girls side. Not much good news these days at TSC

I agree; it seemed like there were far fewer older teams, and none of the top TSC teams participated.

You can be quite amusing sometimes. A rainout led them to cancel indefinitely. Did you speak directly with the Directors at Solar, NOKC, ESC, Renegades, BVB, or OEFC? I have coaching friends who have faced similar situations in baseball and soccer. I’m sure one year has caused some issues, but many of the NOKC club parents who publicly complained on Facebook after that still sent their same teams from out of town.

I have some questions:
Why don’t these teams attend the WSA tournaments?
Which of the Nine WSA intra-club scrimmages, with an admission fee of $800, should they participate in?
Can I criticize a "non-profit" that significantly supports a university known for financial misconduct involving its founder?
It’s all justified because there are 40-foot praying hands in front of it, right?
Who wins out on girl players now NL is there, Rhein bros or Praying Hands bros?
Will WSA be pissed when Tulsa finally makes the right move dismisses Rhein broskey #1?
Will Rhein broskey #1 go back to rocking out as the Bixby's head coach and achieving two semifinals in 13 years?
When Rhein Broskey #1 is dismissed, will TU be allowed on Bush's hallowed self-named complex? Will it then be self-before-side?

Blitz's tournaments seem to be growing slightly, but they still aren't of the same caliber.

Is there a group of referees holdouts due to a lack of support? I’d love to know who is spreading that around?

Our games were set for Monday and did not change. I didn’t hear anyone among the teams mention any issues. Granted, I mostly interact with the younger teams, but you make it sound like it was everywhere.

So I counted 165 teams in total. Roughly half of what they have averaged in the past according to their posts. That tournament appears to be in big trouble
