Zach Smith Named One of Eight QBs as Manning Award Stars of the Week
NEW ORLEANS, La. –– The Manning Award, sponsored by the allstate Sugar Bowl has named eight quarterbacks as its “Stars of the Week.” Tulsa quarterback Zach Smith is among those “Stars of the Week” following his performance Saturday in Tulsa’s win over ECU.
College football fans can now go to the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page to vote for what they think was the best performance from this past weekend. When voting closes on Thursday at 11 a.m. (CT), the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.

In Tulsa’s 49-24 victory over the Pirates, Smith threw for a career-high 5 touchdowns. The 6’3” junior completed 70-percent of his passes (21-of-31) for 331 yards.
Smith’s 5 TD passes totaled 140 yards, covering 66, 29, 4, 2 and 39 yards. Smith completed 17-of-23 passes for 275 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first half to give Tulsa a 21-3 halftime lead.
