TU soccer player Akeil Barrett is the twenty-fifth pick in the MLS Superdraft and the first pick of Orlando City SC in the second round.
Akeil is a bit undersized for MLS, at least on paper. He also will require an international slot -- a rare and valuable commodity in MLS. Orlando wants to use players from Brazil when possible, so we will see if he sticks with the senior team if they use their intl slots on established players.
In any case, an outstanding job by Coach McIntosh fighting to get Barrett a look at the combine. He wasn't even selected for the first group to go to the combine, but Coach got him a slot and he impressed once he got there.
Last week? Walking down 11th Street. Next week? Playing 3swith Kaka.
Great for Barrett. Great for TU recruiting.
