This stuff is close to home because we have Ukrainians in our family. Her family is directly involved in this conflict. Brother can leave the country and fighting. Mother and other family members left. This is real stuff, and how many have characterized this conflict is pretty sick here. The way they have characterized it in the media has just been to get paid. It isn't as a different way to think. Some of it has even been paid directly by Russian state propaganda like Tenet media with people like Benny Johnson and Tim Pool.
I am fine with discussing whether the US should give so much money. But don't act like we have given 300 billion dollars. We haven't. We have provided 80-90 billion in military aid built in the United States; much of it is old equipment. Some of us have discovered how bad our logistics capabilities are for major conflicts. We can't build big artillery rounds. Now, the big orange guy will reduce the size of the military even further. Good luck boys! We voted for it.
Putin was doing that crap well before in places like Georgia and Chechnya. The history of Ukraine is that they wanted to be allied with the West because they like Western freedoms in the EU, not sham courts and mafia oligarchies that exist in Russia. There was history there with the Orange and Maidan Revolutions.
You people curiously, willfully or ignorantly don't talk about it. I don't know what it is. It is more significant that Putin didn't want them in NATO, so he invaded. GTFOH. Watch their stuff on Russian State TV. Watch Putin's speeches and what he wrote about before he invaded.
Putin was a weird ally to some of the right-wing because he talked about trannies, so that's super cool etc...
This is a very weird reading of history....
