Uh game thread

Was BYU ranked when we beat them at Skelly? I don't remember but I do remember all the massive hits in that game. Most physical game we played in years.

One of the best games I've ever seen. Almost 1300 yards of offense and as stated, some great hits, most delivered by TU D. Charles clay coming out party. Wow, I'll never forget it. TU Football: 1st,last,always!

Chamberlain's hit that basically ended the game at 1:30AM would most assuredly be called targeting these days. Was that hit on Austin Collie...if so, that may have started his end in football due to all the concussions.

I certainly think that this performance gets Vegas' notice as well. I'm not sure they know what to do with us since we tend to play to the level of competition across the line from us. There is no doubt that we have the ability to destroy teams like Fresno and SMU and just didn't. It is also apparent that our level of play can be top 25 caliber. We essentially went toe to toe with Ohio State for a half and Houston. If there's a complaint to be had with this team it's the slow starts in the 1st quarter as they feel out the opponent. I'm convinced Monty and his staff are some of the best in the biz when it comes to on the fly adjustments on both sides of the ball.

I hope we get the focus and effort we showed against Ohio State and Houston when we play Tulane this weekend. Game won't be close if we do that.

We done it three times in the last 12 years.

2004 #24 UTEP 37-35
2008 #22 Ball State 45-13
2010 #24 Hawaii 62-35

Fair enough, I stand corrected. In principle, I'd like to see us beat a team with some sort of marquis / prestige. Houston the past 3 or 4 times would've been nice, or Memphis when they came to Tulsa last year, Oklahoma or their state equivalent. The last big win I can remember was against Notre Dame, but their program had receded somewhat when we played them, so it didn't have quite the splash nationally that it deserved as evidenced by our non-existent attendance the next home game against Rice. A win against Houston Saturday or a P5 team would go a long way to boost the attendance and fan following in my opinion, which is worthless, since everyone has one and they're distributed for free and spontaneously.

I find it ridiculous that there hasnt been one word spoken about the two missed calls at the goal line. I would think there would be at least some acknowledgment saying they missed the offsides and too many men on the field.
