The lost restaurant thread made me think of Frank’s Country Inn (I only ate there once or twice) but remember his “bodacious” salad bar from the commercials.
Tulsa has had some funny and some really bad TV commercials and spokespeople over the years - Linda Sound Track, John F Lawhan, The Singing Reeves Brothers and dear old Pappy, and a long list of others.
What were some other favorites from the past?

Before I finished reading your post the Reeves boys popped into my head ‘if you didn’t buy at Reeves, you paid too much”. There was also a discount furniture store where they always showed sofa/loveseat combinations on racks in their warehouse. I actually bought a set ($199 for sofa and loveseat) but I can’t remember the name. Grandpa John’s bargain barn or something like that?

I think he started out with Snow's Furniture. He worked for various businesses in Texas, Kansas, Arkansas & Oklahoma as far as I know. Johnny Ross inc. Regional dude.

Grandpa John’s was located near the Turner Turnpike Entrance on the east side of Highway 66 if I recall correctly.

We did a thread on this a few years ago, maybe ten.

Here’s my favorite reel of old ads. Tulsa Films is a great channel to check out.

John F Lawhon at 4:30. Regional Wal-Mart ads lol.

All of them with “inflation buster” pricing.

The guy with the shotgun blowing up high prices at the Chevy dealership is lol and reminds me of the classic scene from the old movie Used Cars.

The 25th anniversary Quik Trip ad is neat.

I totally forgot about Sipe’s.

I warn you, you’ll want to lie down with nostalgia.

Coach Padek at Jenks back in the day would do a Chris Berman-type thing every time he called on you in class. Jill Reeves was a soccer player and every damn time Coach called on her ... Jill "If you didn't buy at" Reeves, "you paid way, WAY too much!"

Jill could play. Classic poacher and a nice break away. Her and Ruthie Miller at Broken Arrow could light it up back in the day.

I remember working with a lady who was dating the ex-boyfriend of Kristen Glover. I would constantly change the background of her computer to Kristen Glover or her screen saver would say "Dad'll do it". She would get soooooo mad. The Dad'll do it commercials were the worst lol.

Anyone remember the KTUL ad where Don Woods walks into a crowded restaurant from a sunny day. The restaurant has a huge line waiting to be seated but the owner greets him and immediately seats him at the best table, etc…The next scene is Woods coming into the same restaurant pulling down his rain soaked umbrella. No customers are in the restaurant but the perturbed owner is not sure they can find him a table, then spills the water glass on Woods when it is brought to the table. The tag line “Don Woods doesn’t make the weather, he just forecasts it”.

KMOD - “He’s Doing it Again” ads were classics.

Doc Rock at American Discount was just a sad copycat of Linda Soundtrack.

Not local, but the Hai Karate ads were the best. Look ‘em up.

Uncle Zeb! Also, the days when you didn't have to dial an area code with the phone number. I think most of these pre-date my arrival in Tulsa though. There were always 2 car commercials that came on when I first got here...Turnpike Ford (Tulsa, Sapulpa, Jenks and Broken Arrow, Owasso, Sand Springs...it's a Turnpike Taurus). And then "4444 S Sheridan and Sam's is still next door"

Here are some promos from KTUL when the Leake family owned them and they were well run and promoted, unlike today’s Sinclair mismanagement.

This thread is great! Up here in St Louis a large furniture store has the worst slogan I’ve ever heard “Carol House Furniture… because you like nice things”

HOW DOES THAT BECOME A SLOGAN?!?!

I think that's a great slogan! Kudos to the ad company responsible for that.

Not an ad but do people remember Gaylord Sartain on Mazzepa impersonating John F. Lawhon?

Something like - we have a Hercron, Dacron, double knit, two-tone wool and polyester sofa and loveseat today and today only for $499! Only at John F Lawhon Furniture …. Then something about the location being right above Big Mike’s Hamburgers

I remember this one that Gailard did that made fun of the old Horn Brothers furniture store. Note that the audience interspersed in these commercials was the actual audience from KTUL that was on the Saturday night Horn Bros. country show.

Also the late Lee Woodward makes an appearance on Mazeppa.

I bet Mack Creiger was never on the show!
