šŸˆ Recruiting Transfer Portal Targets / Offers

Sounds like Avant did indeed sign with Colorado State. But yes, I believe TU is now done at RB. Also done at WR.
Thanks. Concerning his committing to Boise State, I saw a tweet that he had. It was even noted on the site On3.com but was later taken off. I wonder if Boise State OC retiring had anything to do with his changing his mind? I thought it might, at the time I saw his retirement announcement.

Avant's ypc was way below just about every other RB we had in the room. So Hunt in place of him is at least equal, if not better. He was the #2 back for Ohio as a rs Fr and carried for nearly 400 yds at 5.2ypc.

Assuming these signings happen on the OL, Jack Hood looks like a project for next year, not this year. We need at least one more transfer on the OL, which Lamb said he was looking for. But I think we need 2 or 3.

TU had some visitors over the weekend and has more coming in today.

Look for these three OL to sign with TU, likely today:

Jack Hood, ETSU

Simon Wilson, MTSU

JaQuan Adams, ETSU
Sign all 3. Jack Hood may be closer to 265lbs. He may be ready to participate this season.

Adamā€™s is the only one I see as FBS quality. Hoping Iā€™m wrong about the other two as it appears we have offered and I assume they will accept

Hood only was in 3 games during his freshman year as a redshirt OL. Too early to tell, especially as an OL. And he was very light as an OL. He'll bulk up over the next year or two, and gain enough experience to make the judgement then.

I have reservations about taking and paying portal guys to develop for a year or two due to the propensity of these guys to shop around for better offers once they develop into legit FBS players. Suppose it is what it is in 2025. We have to take some chances kids will stick around after we develop them

He won't get much playing time this year if any, while we are developing him, and nobody will want him. If he develops for the next year, then we at least get one year out of him as someone that we paid little to no NiL. I doubt we give him much more than a scholarship this year, coming in as a light inexperienced DII guy. He'll just be happy for the opportunity. You act like someone will want him when he hasn't become a star OL for us yet.

I just witnessed numerous P4 schools want and sign a couple of our OL guys who were part of one of the worst OL in college football. Those guys werenā€™t anywhere close to stars for us. I did acknowledged we have to roll the dice with these types of guys. Iā€™m just skeptical of the current system based on what Iā€™ve witnessed in the last 12 months.

I gave you a like :)

Those guys were stars in HS and entered the portal because of the coaching change and maybe disagreement over Nil promises floating around. Tanner & Christian were treated like they just came out of HS as a risky transfer. OSU likely thought about recruiting Christian in the first place, last year. You notice that Johnston is still lingering in the portal. This guy from ETSU was not a star in HS and would linger just like Johnston has, if he entered the portal after this year. Won't happen until he shows something on the field. That was a special circumstance with Christian & Tanner. If Wilson had stayed, they probably wouldn't have risked the portal until they had something to show in DI games. šŸ¤¬ šŸ˜

Adams and Erb, along with the two big guard-type guys, have size. Let's see a center recruit, then coach them up. It is Looking much better for sure.

I think he may be thru with the OL, at least until May transfer period. He said he was going to pick up 6 during this transfer period, then he was thru, at least for now. Erb is 6. I would like him to pick up two more OL, one with C abilities already shown on the field, but he may just move one of the OL recruits over to C.

Jack Hood being used as a blocking TE. I have no problem with that until he reach 290lb. By next year he could be an OT. I might visit TU for the spring game.

I felt/empathized with Lamb's mild irritation over not picking up a single TE yet. It's the only position other than quarterback that we haven't picked up any transfers yet. We really need 2 or 3 of them. I figure he will make it an absolute priority to pick up at least one before this transfer period is over. I imagine he'll go after the other one(s) in may and/or pick up a freshman. After seeing his successes everywhere else, I have a feeling it is just an odd circumstance that he has not signed one yet.

The other one he needs to get during this transfer period is another DT if possible. If he gets those two, this transfer period will be an unmitigated success. He seems to be on track to pull in at least 2/3rds of his transfer needs during this period. Three more and he'll be there. Two or three more on top of that, and he would be around 75%. I'm feeling very satisfied with his start on recruits.
