It will be interesting to see who N. TX will hire as pretty sure their coach is the leading candidate for the TX Tech job opening.
UTSA is the school that will invest in their programs. They put together the NIL package so their QB would come back for next year. They will spend the $$ and their students show up.
N. TX on the other hand will never spend that type of $$ and their students as a whole could care less about sports in general. Incredible music dept though. That is what they are known for.
Sutton was getting on the plane to go to Wichita St and changed mind. Also, was at the hotel going up to sign contract at Bradley and changed mind. For some reason just couldn't pull the trigger. That doesn't happen very often in coaching circles.
Yeah, that's the two things that could cause a problem with them performing at or around the same level. The portal & the coaching portal.
Idiotic. I have a friend who works compliance at La Tech who thinks Konkol will do VERY WELL at Tulsa, and then went on to talk about all the challenges at La Tech. But Chito knows more than all of us.

Lighten up on the insults, unless they are for my arch nemesis. (Everybody on here knows his name, so why mention it again.). Acetone is the bestest for super glue. (Careful on the eyes.)

Fun fact: super glue in an eye is easier to deal with than acetone.
Gibson will give us length and ball handling. He’s a 6’5 PG/SG (he’s listed as one or the other depending on the recruiting service) and supposedly has a 6’11 wingspan.
He’ll be a RS Freshman so I don’t know how much court time he’ll get though.

I don’t think people are saying things positive about last season as much as they’re pushing back against about a half dozen posters who are saying because of last season’s record the coaches aren’t any good and should be fired.
Has anybody actually said that the coaches should be fired? I don't think I've seen that. It's more a split between people who think that last year tells us something about how good the coaches are/can be and those who think that the coaches have no responsibility for last year and so we should ignore it altogether like it never happened. That's a whole lot different.

Maybe I'm wrong about this but I suspect that gold is just yanking people's chains. I think at least half of what he says is all about getting people riled up. Like the Manning post, which clearly was not serious.

Huh. I don't see how you can fire a coach after 1 season unless there were compliance or moral issues. Tho if you allow any flexibility at all for a 1 season firing, then last season would be where you'd do it I guess - there's literally just not room to win much less. You know my view, we knew Konkol was a stretch for this job so we can't get all upset when he wasn't ready for it. If you hire a stretch, you have to have some flexibility for the guy to grow into it. Presumably based on his personality we thought he was a high upside hire which justified the risk, you don't want to throw that away without being fairly sure.
After year 3 of the Wojick reign of terror, it was very clear that we were just playing out the string until we could fire him, he was never going to get it done. Year in and year out, you knew it was never going to get better. I don't feel that way with Konkol. It's not hopeless. You can't fire a guy after year 1 or 2 unless it's hopeless.

While you’re at it, remind him how much better the Thunder are playing without Poku. That should really get him fired up.
Coach Kragthorpe may disagree on that one. He fixed up Burns mess pretty fast.
