I don’t particularly love Kamala Harris…. But she was pretty much 100% correct in the debates. And Trump was a liar through and through.
So what Zelensky play here? He’s losing the war. Ukraine continues to lose territory to Russia. He’s losing fighting age men which can’t be replaced. Without a significant change of policy by NATO his negotiating position grows weaker month by month….he will have to cede more territory when and if a peace is reached.
Is he hoping the situation on the ground grows so dire that NATO commits troops and thus changes the trajectory of the war? About the only thing that makes sense imo. Quite the gamble considering the daily consequences his country is dealing with. Have promised been made by NATO members regarding troops?

People in glass houses. I think it's great risk for either of you to balance your rep on having a recession or not. These times are not holding to norms enougn to predict or not predict a recession.
Aston was talking about a depression not a recession. A short recession would not surprise me. In fact, I would predict a GDP contraction in the 1st quarter. The bond market is certainly beginning to price it in.
CNBC is already predicting a contraction.

I would hope Zelensky has more loyalty to his people and country then to irrationally not find a way to bring them peace opposed to seeing his entire country destroyed and turned into part of the Russian empire.
Wouldn’t NATO have to approve a member country sending ground troops into the conflict? I just don’t see Europe having an appetite for a widespread war on the continent. Far more likely the pressure ramps up on Zelensky to agree to a peace deal than NATO countries committing to a ground war imo.
You seem to think Trump is offering a peace deal in which Ukraine doesn't buckle under to every whim and desire of Putin and/or Trump. He isn't offering that. Trump isn't leaving him any room but to give 100% in. That's not a peace deal, that's submission.
Zelensky has been cold to every peace deal submitted since 2022. This isn’t a new development or one specific to Trump. His line in the sand has been the return of those lands taken by Russia. Meanwhile, Russia has continued to cease more and more territory. His reluctance to find a peace when considering the military situation facing his country has never made a lot of sense to me. Again…unless he expects NATO to step in and become involved in a ground war and recapture the territory which Ukraine lost.
